This sometimes confuses the children and adults.

An orange that is not on a tree is not a living thing because it does not fulfill the criteria of living things as stated in the MOE syllabus although the criteria are not as strict as we move up to secondary or tertiary level.


An orange on a tree is a living thing as it fulfills ALL the criteria of a living thing, again, as stated in the MOE syllabus.

This one also classifies under \"Once Alive\" so it is neither, just like the orange. However, in the absence of this choice, non-living thing would be the right choice. Such question if set as MCQ would be great, no need to second guess but if it is under OE, then it will trap/trick the kids if they do not read carefully the option is only living thing or non-living thing, nothing in between.

The orange is now officially declared non-living.

As per the latest report just in, unable to bear all this questioning about its identity and on the discrimination it is being meted out to it even , the orange has committed suicide , leaving behind a suicide note.
We reproduce the note verbatim. It read
