      Funx3,

DD will DSA through golf. I am hoping that for the Sports DsA they apply a lower GAT cut off then academics.

She is not quite a 4A* student. More a 2 A* and 2 A so probably will be borderline Direct psle candidate for RGS 🙏

Does anyone know of a Kelly teacher based at Rich Mansion, Bukit Timah? She claims to tailor classes for the GAT and HAST.

Anyone has experience of her classes?

Manage to check some info from HCI Open House.

For the marks submission, they're looking at the overall column in the report book. When your child is shortlisted, prepare a copy of the result + others certificates. Don't have to be \"certified true copy\".

How about RI? I didn't get to see the DSA booth as I was there late, rushing for classroom experience & the talk. Can someone share on this.

          Thks
I attended a talk of DSA at RI and find out the DSA procedure as below. Once the online application is submitted, print out a paper copy of the cover page which contains all the information submitted online, and then send the cover page together with all the supporting documents to the general office for Year 1-4. No certified certificates, no photograph and no personal statement are required.

I have been following this thread since 2010. I think this thread should change to

"DSA to RI and RGS - 1st Choice"
"DSA to HCI and NYGH - 2nd Choice"
"DSA to other school - Look somewhere else"

I think there are more sec schools to discuss about DSA. Why parents only want their children to go to the above mentioned schools?

Just to share, I knew few of my DS ex-classmates who has DSAed into HCI and RI and they are the bottom of the class now and feel very depress due to they were the best in their pri schools. One of them has failed his mid-year English exam and it was shocked to the parent and the student. They wouldn’t transfer out due to DSA.

Please consider carefully. This may not actually what your children want.

But many children at this age dun even know what they want. usually they just follow their friends. Then again, how to know if the child is suitable without even giving it a trial?

I understand that alot of parents here say that GEp boys have a high chance of getting DSAed to RI. As for the minority who were unsuccessful, what were the likely reasons?

                  Thanks!

Yes, GEP boys have higher chance to get DSA to RI compare to mainstream students, but based on last year result, only about 50%-60% get it. Some via DSA and some via S1 posting.

Altogether RI takes in about 450 year one students. 225 is for DSA.(I think someone will not agree with me. RI is an Independent School. They can take in any number of DSA students they like. To my understanding since DSA has started, RI has not accepted 100% year 1 students via DSA)

Year 2012 there are about 500-550 GEP P6 students. There are about 350 GEP boys. If all 350 GEP boys apply DSA to RI, about 150 will be rejected

If you have read last 2 years posts you will understand that RI only issue CO(confirm offer) for those GEP boys with P6 SA1 result above 80%. (last year there were students who scored 80.x only offer a WL)

In summary, if a GEP boy P6 SA1 result between 77.5% - 80%, most likely he will be offer a WL(Waiting List). Below 78% most likely will be rejected.

The SA1 result is one of the most important factors for GEP boys to get CO or WL from RI. Other achievement is not that important. GAT and interview is just a procedure. It will take into reference only when necessary.

I have been through the TOUGH DSA process last year. I totally understand what is it all about. The stress, worries, happiness, sadness – no words can describe. All the ups and downs during 2nd half of 2011.

                    Good luck and God Bless.

Agreed, they follow their friends or listen to their parents. That's why during the DSA interview : -

Interviewer : Boy, why do you want to come to RI
Boy : Becuase my mum said that RI is the best school and she wants me to come to this school.

Yes, I was one of the \"victim\". Dad, Mum and DS nearly want into depression during last year DSA process. Happy that it is over now. At least my DS is happy in his sec school now and doing well.
