Does anyone know how strict is RI with the 80% decision of whether a GE kid needs to take GAT or not?

I mean if the overall score is 79.x%, is there a chance that RI might waive the GAT?

TIA
they follow strictly on what they say
If anyone know about the details for RI Year 3 DSA...If I can apply for my son is it possible to get a chance ... hELP please...

Thanks in advance

If you are interested in applying to join RI in Year 3 via DSA, you must have:
- A PSLE T-Score of 250 and above*; and/or
- Outstanding academic performance in your Secondary 1-2 school examinations; and/or
- Excellent achievement in academic and co-curricular activities.

* Students who fail to meet this criterion but have performed extremely well at lower secondary school examinations may be short-listed.

In addition, students may be required to:
- Sit for a General Ability Test and Entrance Examinations (English Language, Mathematics and Science); and
- Be interviewed by a panel of interviewers.

http://admissions.ri.edu.sg/#admissionsbg

Any idea about the entrance test...

For English, are the questions from literature or the other topics such as grammer, vocab etc.?

For Science are the questions are sec 1 and 2 topics ? as different schools have different topics.

For maths is it Algebra or other math related topics?

If anyone entered through Year 3 DSA for RI plz advice how my son could prepare for it!

Thanks in advance!!!! :?: :?: :?: :?:
what school is your DS from ?

* from past posts I see <80% no chance regardless of certs you have . but any body have got CO in RI who has <80%. I dont want to be in WL and take risk unless I dont have any CO for other schools.

daddy_psp . we are in same boat I think but I dont exact 79.xx (waiting for report card). We asked the admin team during open house. Even if it 79.9 still have to sit for GAT.

Based on last year result for RI DSA, my DS class-mate who was in GEP and scored 79.9x for SA1, need to take GAT test and awarded a WL.

Yes, you are right.

To what I know, based on last year result, none GEP boys who scroed below 80% gotten a CO from RI. Few of my DS classmates scored 79.xx were only awarded a WL.

Understand some GEP students who scored 80.xx were only awarded a WL.

However, I guess there might has some special cases. The GEP boys might have some special talent that RI is looking for and award them CO.

as a guide, the yr 1/2 are using O level physics / chem / bio / geog text. as for math, the texts are still brand new and they rely on teachers' notes

just in case any gap in expectation

as for ELA and HCL, don't think the test will be any easier than the Sec 1 DSA selection test

you can try to find out any difference on what has been covered in ACS(I)

the GAT is at least to sieve out those who got a chance, and to test them further by selection test. else is a worse waste of time to get everyone to sit for selection test and just ended up staring at ceiling

Any feedback for ACS (I) IP.

* how difficult is HAST.
* Any samples other than what school gave us when registering.
* is it just HAST results alone or certs also they look.
* How difficult is the DSA process. Any past experienced parents here , please please help.
* How many students are selected and CO given to them (past few years)and how many accepted it.
