Secondary One. I learn it on my own online
Cool! Understand you are studying now - Sec 2 this year ?Ichigokun:
Since there are no threads currently about the learning of Korean, I decided to create one. I'm just a basic learner and want to learn with anybody out there who is interested in learning Korean.
Basics:
In Korean, there are 26 letters, same as English.
Here are some basic letters.
ㅂ = b
ㅈ = j (South Korea), z (North Korea)
ㄷ = d
ㄱ = g
ㅅ = s
ㅁ = m
ㄴ = n
ㅇ = ng (or silent)
ㄹ = r (South Korea), l (North Korea)
ㅎ = h
ㅋ = k
ㅊ = ch
ㅍ = p
ㅌ = t
There are more vowels in Korean than in English.
ㅛ/ㅕ = yo
ㅐ = ae
ㅔ = e
ㅗ/ㅓ = o
ㅑ = ya
ㅏ = a
ㅣ = ee
ㅠ = eu
ㅡ = eu
ㅜ = u
just piece those letters up and they will string into Korean words, just like English.
Eg: Annyonghaseyo
It's
ㅇ+ㅏ+ㄴ+ㄴ+ㅕ+ㅇ+ㅎ+ㅏ+ㅅ+ㅔ+ㅇ+ㅛ
= 안녕하세요.
So you are learning on your own or you take it up as your third language ?

because ur Chinese name would be more accurate as to your English name.
My own Korean name is 오준걸 Oh Jun Gyol -
where to learn Korean, for primary school kid ?

Oh wow, that’s interesting. I think the speaking is tough because of the many vowels involved.

@peapot;
Yup. Pronouncing Korean is hard. Korean is not as flat, enhanced and rough-sounding as Chinese.
For Example, in Chinese, if you were to say a word. For example, Bing for Biscuit (饼). The B sounds really "B". It’s flat and rough sounding.
Same for English. In English, if you were to say the color Pink. The P sounds really flat and rough-sounding too.
While in Korean, if u were to use a word, say, Pah (파) it’s not pronounced as PAH nor BAH. It’s somewhere in the middle like a rough P and a gentle B.
Of course, that’s just one example. There are MANY more hard-to-pronounce Korean letters. -
@fightingmom;
