imo, TCH's views are not reflective of majority of Singaporeans, and it is HE who speaks for himself. He cant possibly believe that all the supporters who turned up are ONLY from Hougang, right ? :slapshead:

would be interesting to see PasirRis GRC performance in 2016 :imanangel:

Hey, not sure if I am oversensitive. I feel that everytime the media takes a picture of WP supporters, they like to focus on blue collars, older generations or "ah bengs". It appears to paint that profile.

However the reality is that there are alot of youngsters and white collars who are now WP supporters. Just look at their behaviour during the rally.

Not sure if I am oversensitive, but this is the kind of pictures I see in the mainstream media.

Hmm, interesting observation. Seems to be quite true based on my recollection...

one of my favorite write-ups about the HG by-election:

                      http://www.zaobao.com.sg/yl/yl120527_001.shtml

the article is rather long, so i'd just copy-and-paste the last few paras:

Read from TODAY paper that DC was jeered at by the residents there when he went round to make his ‘thank-you’ parade in Hougang. I felt this is really uncalled for. Although he lost the by election, he was gracious enough to congratulate PEH and even said PEH "deserved to win becos he had worked very hard in that estate". I think DC has also worked very hard in Hougang, despite losing the GE last year, he still stayed on to serve the Hougang residents. For this alone, I don’t think he deserved to be jeered at.

This is not the first time WP supporters had jeered at MPs of ruling party. At the last GE when GY, WKS and other PAP MPs gave a speech on Nomination Day, WP supporters also booed at them. What is with these pple, that they have absolutely no respect for others who are not in the same camp as them. It also reflects very badly on the WP supporters and the party they supported.

Actually I’ve tried to refrain from posting here cos I know there are many WP supporters here and didn’t want to be slammed. But I felt so sorry for DC after reading about him being sneered and jeered at during the thank-you parade that I just felt I have to say something.

Btw, I am not a Hougang resident and this by election didn’t affect me at all. But I just want to bring this up and hope that people will respect others who are not in the same camp, league or whatever. Respecting others is also respecting ourselves.
