To enjoy reading Chinese books, buy novels on the Chinese dramas you like eg. My Fair Princess 环珠格格 by Qiong Yao. 步步惊心 should have the novel version as well.

If you are still looking, I know an experienced tutor. She teaches Pre-school to Secondary school students. She has been teaching for about 21 years. 13 years in mainland china and 8 in Singapore. She is patient and loves children. After my children was taught by her, they were able to attain A1 for their express chinese O paper and A stars for their PSLE chinese paper. Regarding the tutor for Secondary school, how can I get the contact? My son is in Sec 2 going to Sec 3, his Chinese is poor. Had tuition but not much improvement.

I am also horrified by my DS’s Chinese, when asking what had he learnt in class? he said the teacher just read through the text book once, then let them do exercise. I feel it totally insufficient for learning a language!
