Because DHS is a Sap school, only offering Chinese as its mother tongue.

            Namie:

I shall be registering my daughter under phase 2B this year. With the recent policy change, is it worth risking for IJ TP or should I stick to Katong?

Depends on where you live. I think you can risk it at CHIJ TP. But do consider the distance you need to travel.

To me, not much difference in standard for primary level in both schools. Only difference is the secondary affiliation.

Depends on the individual coz my fren had 2 daughters fr CHIJ Katong primary. One got into RGS while the other went to CHIJ Katong Secondary. So I am saying CHIJ Katong also can nurture RGS material.

I live in Tampines so I am beyond 2km to each school. But travelling wise, I think IJ Toa Payoh will be more convenient because I have to drop off son at Maris Stella.

              I am also not sure...
perhaps.... all along, there are no spotted non- chinese pupils in the sch,
the rest of the non-chinese students would not like to be here....to be the odd ones....

There are non- chinese pupils who take chinese as first or sec language.

Then u would have to decide which sec schs ( CHIJ TP or CHIJ Katong Convent ) is yr prefereable choice....

                    Indian mother of two:
Hello, is St Nicholas Sec School affliated to CHIJ Katong? Do the IJ girls get any priority with the required PSLE scores?

A good time to toot my own horn 😉
                    Toot, toot!

Thank you all for your responses. We live just>2km from CHIJ (my first choice) and 1-2km from Haig Girls’ (a very close second choice). No disrespect to any school or anyone, i would prefer a missionary school (my older boy goes to St.Stephens’) despite being non- Catholic. My kids both take Chinese. I am so confused and worried i might lose out on both schools…Does anybody have any advice for me? Oh yes, also want to mention we are only applicable for the 2C phase as my husband and i did not grow up here but we are all Singaporean.

                        My deepest desire would be:
                        - RGS
                        - SCGS
                        - SNGS
                        - IJ Toa Payoh

But I know my daughter well. She is not a brainy child so I think at least the first 3 are out. IJ Toa Payoh would be good.
