Hi,
Does anyone have an idea of how MGS & SCGS compare to NYPS and RGPS in terms of a well-rounded curriculum?
Thanks. -

i guess RGPS will always remain very academic.Hi,

Hi,
We are staying within 2km of RGPS, NYPS, HPPS and FMPS.
Which school has the highest chance?
I think not much help with new policy as many PR would have got in through Phrase 1. :sigh: -
Hi Huilink and Nite
At this point in time, I dun think you should be overly concerned with which school is more well-rounded. All the schools you are targeting are good branded schools. So, your priority is to measure which school offers you the highest chance of getting in, and whether you are willing to go to a lesser school should you not be successful.
First, you guys are all registering at Phase 2C, which is open to all Singaporeans and PRs without connections. This is the most competitive phase.
If you are ok with the backup plan at Phase2C Supp, then try for the best school in your mind - NYPS. The risk is very very high and only can be taken by those who live within 1km.
If you cannot tahan the thought of your kid entering a non-branded school at Phase 2CSupp, then you cannot afford to take chances at NYPS. You need to observe Phase 2B (the phase before your eligible phase) to see what vacancies are left for all the schools you are targeting.
If you are a PR and hoping for vacancies after the Singaporeans have balloted, the hope is very faint for the popular schools. I would advise you to not even try NYPS. If you are eligible for Phase 2B or earlier (alumni) phases at other relatively good schools, please use that and be safe. If you want to take the risk, you may end up nowhere.
BTW, Huilink, you can rent a place within 1km of both NYPS and RGPS. Then you will have an additional choice for Phase 2C. That place would also be within 1-2km of SCGS (another option). -

If you are talking about Phase 2C,Hi,
We are staying within 2km of RGPS, NYPS, HPPS and FMPS.

NYPS - no chance
RGPS - not much chance, must observe no. of vacancies
HPPS - Slight chance, must observe no. of vacancies
Fairfield - Not so good chance, depends on luck
Best to move house if you really want a chance. -
Thank you cherrygal! Very useful advice.
The sad reality is that no matter what I do now, my daughter is not likely to get into the school that I feel is the best fit for her (NYPS). -

Erm, in fact, if we had our way, EVERY parent here thinks NYPS is the best fit for their kid...Thank you cherrygal! Very useful advice.

we gotta live with the best option we can get. Hence CHIJ OLQP doesn't seem like a bad choice afterall.
1) Mission school - values, arts, good in English
2) Same gender - less distractions in upper primary
3) Has affiliated secondary school
4) Best of all, no need to move house!
