      I believe they do admit non affliated students except the COP will be much higher as compared to 'internal' posting.

      According to MOE statistics for PLMGS, yeah, it does not accept students from non-affiliated schools into it's express streams. This is the same with some other schools like CHIJ Toa Payoh. Students applying for the secondary school from their own primary schools fill up all available vacancies. Only a small handful from non-affiliated schools get in, but generally due to appeal or DSA and these are not included in the stats bc it's not done thru' the sec 1 posting exercise, I guess.

      This is unlike schools like CHIJ SNGS where they do take in non-affiliated students, but only if their points are above 250 since it's a SAP school.

      Actually, they do take in non-affiliated through posting IF they have vacancies & are posted any students. Most students will opt for other schools, those who stay around this are usually would have already registered their girls in PL Pri 🙂

      PL has alot of students from other primary schools who enrolled via DSA. They can enrol students via DSA through music, dance & sports.

          It should be OK. The MOE program goes like this;
          1. Go according to T-Score from top down
          2. On you kid turn (base on his result)
          3. Go down the list of school of your kid selection
          4. The first school which still has vacancy will be assigned to your kid
          5. If all the choices above SJC has no vacancy, then it will be SJC turn

          I think only :roll:

            If she wants to use her affliation points, then she MUST put SJC as first choice, or she loses her affliation advantage. So if your dd decides to put SJC as last choice, she will compete with all non-affliated students for a place in SJC in the event that she doesn't get a place in any of her other choices.

            Say for eg., affliated students only need to score 200 points to get back into SJC secondary. If your dd puts SJC as first choice and she scores more than 200, she's guaranteed a place in SJC secondary. BUT if she puts SJC as 2nd choice or last choice etc, she will no longer enjoy the 200 cut off point. Say if SJC's COP is 230, your dd will have to score >230.

            Hope that answers your question.

                  hi,

                  my understanding for posting of sec is different from my colleague. both our kids are in psle this yr. according to my colleague, if a kid got 270 and if his/her top 5 choices sec sch COP is around 240 to 250 and last choice is 1 of the top sch with COP 260 and above, MOE will auto post the kid to the last choice of sch. is it true?

                      Hi CrazyDad,

                      Some secondary schools that are affliated to JCs offer bonus points for existing students applying to their affliated JC. For eg., MGS and ACS are affliated to ACJC. Hence, students from MGS, ACS(I) and ACS(B) will get 2 bonus points off their 'O' Level results when they apply for ACJC.

                        It is clearly stated in the PSLE Booklets given out to the kids in October that the kid will be posted to his choice of secondary provided he meets the cut off point and there are vacancies available. Hence, the child will be posted to his 1st choice school, failing which, 2nd choice, then 3rd choice etc. He will only be posted to his last choice school if he is unable to secure a place in his 1st-5th choices. And given the scenario your colleague has spelt out, this will never happen. If he scores >270, he will definitely be posted into his 1st choice school whose COP is 240.
