Is this the sort of high calibre people that the singapore government is wasting our tax payers $$ on. What is going on with these educated people ?

Teachers, Principals, high ranking government officials, scholars .... seriously i think the schools should brush up and teach e younger generation about moral values, ethics...

      According to someone's logic....

their pay not high enough.. hence they corrupt..

I think 'corrupt' doesn't necessary mean receive money. In this case, he was alleged to show favour in return for sexual service. Which mean nothing to do with high pay.
Interesting point! Nice to see you at recess time again, HVR!

Which means, even if you pay someone millions, it doesn't meant that they will not corrupt.

So, by your statement \"Which mean nothing to do with high pay\", we pay millions so as to reduce the chance of them pocketing extra money ONLY, and the high pay is not to prevent them from being corrupted (for power, etc..) ????????

Is that what you're saying? since you seems to imply that because his kind of corruption is not related to high pay, the notion of giving HIGH pay to prevent them \"pocketing extra money\" ONLY is still noble and justified, and not disgraced by this incident?

So, to prevent corruption of power, the state must give office holder unlimited power?

So, to prevent corruption of vice, the state must give them lots of women??

If HIGH pay does not cover all (forms of corruption), the state must give them the benefits of that kind to prevent against corruption of that kind?

Please do not confuse this case of corruption with EMA like YSL’s

This is a case of bribery and conflict of interest, and abuse of power… a clear cut example of CORRUPTION… YSL’s private affairs didn’t even come close by any yardstick…

Don’t get mixed up. This ex-SCDF chief Peter Lim gave govt contracts in exchange for sex. This fella literally pulled the women down with him as well…telling police they had sex or oral sex on him.

I am just glad the law does consider other form of 'corruptions' and is able to take action against the guilty one. Cannot understand your logic. So to stop people from stealing, we just give them what they want?

Nowadays, \"Woman\" may not be more an exciting version than a \"Girl\"
Good point! So I get to be head of the Entertainment Section in the Huay Kuan. I'm already thinking of theme parties...

So to stop people from stealing, we just give them what they want?
High pay is supposed to deter all forms of corruption. Even if this case is not related to money, it is still a form of corruption, and it proves that someone's logic (of high pay deters corruption) is seriously FLAWED.

Of coz I disagree with the part in red. I just pointed out that it seems to be what you're implying in your post.

My first comment on it is to say that (in a sarcastic way), to give high pay to prevent corruption is a mistake. A BIG mistake. And \"someone\" (not referring to you, of coz) is still trying to insist that it is right..

I totally support the review in ministerial salary..

And feel that it could be adjusted more to attract the CORRECT nature of talent. Someone who feels that it is a privileged to serve, and not someone who feel that the balance could be titled further and they are doing BIG Time sacrifice by joining public office. How dis-gracefu....
