I am considering between the following 3 schools:-

1) Kuo Chuan Primary - P2C (1-2km)
2) Teck Ghee Primary - P2A2 (1km)
3) Townsville Primary - P2C (1km and nearest to my plc)

My first choice is KCPS. Can anyone advise which school shld I go for shld I fail my balloting for KCPS? Townsville or Teck Ghee?

Secure your place in Teck Ghee first at P2A2 and then wait till 2C to check the status of KCPS. IF KCPS needs to ballot, you have to weigh whether it is worth the risk to give up your secured place in Teck Ghee. I think KCPS has online registration so take note of the number of applications.

I was told by my colleagues to secure a place at Teck Ghee too. However, i’m indecisive as to choose between Townsville and Teck Ghee. There is a guarantee place for Townsville & Teck Ghee for P2C as well coz I was within 1km and there was no history of balloting within 1 km at this phase for the 2 schools. Hence, was wondering which one shld i go for if I decided to forego KCPS due to high no. of applications at P2C.

Any thoughts?

I heard Teck Ghee is a good alternative. Many parents who failed at Catholic High ballots rather put their kids into Teck Ghee than at Guangyang or elsewhere. So I think you should just go to Teck Ghee at Phase 2A2 (guaranteed spot).


If you want to try Kuo Chuan, you should rent within 1km to score a higher chance. And if you are not registering this year and can make it for the Parent Volunteer scheme (born 2008), go apply PV at Kuo Chuan to get into Phase2B.

Hi cherrygal, thanks for the advise. My gal will be registering for P1 this yr so there's no chance for any PV now.


Perhaps I shld really secure a place at TGPS in P2A2 first and monitor the situation for KCPPS at P2C. Hope that due to the new ruling, my gal will have a higher chance in getting a place there.

That said, if you really want to try at Kuo Chuan, rent a flat within 1km to have a higher chance, then go back to Teck Ghee/Townsville at Phase 2C Supp should you be unsuccessful at Kuo Chuan. From balloting history, seems like Teck Ghee and Townsville still have seats left for Phase 2C Supp.


I would do that if I were you since Kuo Chuan only ballots for 1-2km at Phase 2C and the other 2 AMK schools have seats left every year. You stand a greater chance if you just get a place within 1km of Kuo Chuan.

I will bring my gal along to TVPS and TGPS open house first and see what she says. Pity KCPPS does not have open house this year. Beside open house, is there anyway I can enter the school compound to have a look and feel of the school?
