Singapore Maths Olympiad first round results are out.


RV has 8 students in the junior section making into the special round. There is even a sec 2 student making into the special round for the open section. Quite cool.

For maths festival project competition, as far as I can remember, it is the first time that RV got a silver or better in the junior section. There isn't any gold award in the junior section for this year.

One of the school's promo criteria is a B4 in HMT. What will happen if he/she fails to achieve that? My DS is in Y1. Tks.

I heard they will put a \"conditional promotion\" on the report book if all your other criteria are \"pass\" except HMT.

Yea conditional promotion. other areas like conduct grade must be good, cca attendance etc. GPA requirement also +0.1.
For eg, year 2 will need 2.1 to promote instead of the original 2.0

My son is gonna apply for Dsa for RV 2013. My son got A in Chinese and distinction in Higher Chinese in both p.5 SA 2 and p.6 SA 1. Should he take the GAT test? Actually what the GAT test for as he may opt to take or not?He got Wushu blackbelt and Grade 2 in violin as well. Do this eca help for his application? Thx a lot.

did your son rep his sch in the national primary school wushu championships? if he has and win medals, then i think will have a high chance.

many of the current year 1 wushu students got in thru dsa last year. they won team 3rd at the nationals this year. rv's first national top 4 in wushu.

Yes, still promoted. No need, but advised to buck up and dont fail again next year la… haha. not nice to see conditional promotion every year just because of one HMT also.

Oh, but will have extra remedials and work for them in the holidays, more than their peers

Although DS got a blackbelt in wushu,I don’t think it may help as he just took the course in CC. I intend to apply for him thru academic. He got overall 87% in P.6 SA and highest in HM in school. Hope that it may help. Thx you for all yr precious opinion.

Hi! I am a student in RV and indeed, RV accepts lots of pupils who dsa with wushu, hp just be prepared to allow your children to take part in the competition! N jiayous to ur children and come into RV, a big and wonderful family XD
