      hi all,

we are thinking of buying a place near our kids school. We do not want to rush to buy as it is a long term plan. But P1 registration is just next month. So we are thinking of renting a place first.

Is it too late now to rent and use the address?

      Thanks a lot.

DONT USE THIS METHOD TO GET PRIORITY.

I HAVE RELATIVE IN MOE SAY THIS TIME ROUND THEY HAVE A WAY TO CHECK.
IF FOUND YOUR CHILD WILL BE DISQUALIFIED FROM THE WANTED SCHOOL IMMEDIATELY.

they should have done it long ago; it is not difficult to check

It's like opening a can of worms... if they backtrack the existing kids as well.

I find parents of such mentality are very poisonous for the society.
Such acts of dishonesty will only lead your own child to be social outcast who only lie to get what they wanted.
Next time when they grow up if they want to get something they might as well cheat and rob to get it.
Anyway you are too late to rent.
MOE this year for some reason is very strict and will look out for such dishonesty cases and will void your child eligibility even if he/she is selected.
Some of my friends who rented house even 2 years ago also gave up the idea of using this dishonest method in worry that MOE will find out.

is still not too late to do a spot check on existing students ... find out who are those dishonest cheating cases. Actually, MOE should make it compulsory for all Principals in hot, popular schools - do a regular spot check, at the end of each Term.

it is not difficult to implement. There are ways to handle this.

Parents who are civil servants with young kids - better don't practise this. Don't \"play, play\".
If found out, you'll lose your \"iron\" rice bowl.
Your name, job title will be centre page across newspapers, internet. Your boss, fellow colleagues will discover that you're a cheat / liar.

this year, govt already very strict on sex scandal crime, by public civil servants.
who knows ... maybe next area to spray water hose, clean / flush out dirt ... will be cheating / liars for P1 enrolment registration.

              bingobongo:

My kid will be in p1 in 2014 and our bto will be ready by 2015. Can I register in a school near my future bto with the new address? Our current address is in our ic which is faraway from my future bto. What is temprory occupation permit? Will it be useful in my case?

              Can anyone clarify this pls.

Just make sure that u change ur IC before your child goes P3

              Thanks mummy of 3.

Do we need TOP for hdb bto? How to get it?

Haha I was thinking of that too... probably long over due.... If they searched back.. maybe those kids already moved on to JC or Sec school???? But they probably need to do a one time clean up to deter cheats and making the existing system so full of cheats and liars today.

Yap I hope the government will check and clean up the current P1 registration system soon. If they can do a clean job for buying and selling residential properties OVERNIGHT, I do not see why they are not capable in doing this simple cleaning or as said flusing out the dirt, cheat, liars etc of this P1 registration system.

There are just so many tell tale signs :
                        * Last minute change in address in NRIC during year of registration
                        * School bus consistently heading to a different location iso home address and parents actually own the place where school bus drops the child.
                        * Not being a official owner of the address they live in and their owned property is elsewhere. Eg. borrowing relatives' address for registration.
                        * Using a owned property but the child actually don't stay there as it's rented out.

The list just goes on.... it's just not that difficult to tell. It's just that do they have the resource to do it.
