I guess you are feeling the heat bcos people around you are pressuring you....something like 'When are you getting married? When are you going to have 1st child?'
There is no guarantee that kids studying in branded schools are better off than those who aren't. I have a friend whose kids studied in neighborhood school in Jurong but her kids are well prepared for PSLE. In fact, PSLE preparation started at P4 for these kids.

It's not too late to coach your kids since they are in K2.

They are SC , now is considering to register:

1) Rulang PS (1.5km)
2) Jurong PS (1.5km)

Please advise:
whether we could get seat under Phase 2C without balloting in both?
If balloting what was the chances?

From the above data,
1) Rulang Primary School -- Risk of balloting only for those staying within 1km. Anyone staying beyond 1km may not even get a chance to ballot at all.

2) Jurong Primary School -- Risk of balloting only for those staying between 1-2km. Those staying beyond 2km may not even have a chance to ballot. Parents staying within 1km may not need to ballot at all. As the value approaches 0.78, chance of balloting at this distance is actually very high.

Average salary workers but still decent living, right? Actually, you are right that parents want the best for their children. However, most parents end up making decisions that they think are the best for their children. But, are they? JMHO.

Anyway, you know you are late in doing anything now. Does panic help? Does feeling desperate help? Eliminate the \"noise\" in the environment and you will feel better. No point fretting over something that you cannot control. If you are registering this year, there is really nothing much you can do even if you panic and feel desperate. So, just let nature takes its own course.

BTW, we didn't do anything for our children, too. They are now in a happily studying in a neighborhood school.

Reading this makes me kind assured again since this P1 registration draws nearer..... my gal is going to p1 next year but i also did not do any PV etc...just intend to send her to the neighborhood sch nearest to us under Phase 2C...

i personally feel that if my gal is in good hands (both of us work FT but parents have to play a part to monitor her environment and friends she mix with) and as long as enjoys herself in the environment, she can excel too...i noticed this in her child care enrichment she attends...while if we start giving too much pressure to the kids, they may not enjoy and may end up having opposite effects....Kids these days already lose too much childhood unlike our days...let lose sometimes thou every parents want the best for their kids. Your best may not be their best.just my own personal view to share...

1. Bukit Timah Primary School
2. Bukit View Primary School

From the historical registration results, there's no balloting for these two schools.

Both are good... I will prefer Bukit Timah as there is a Golf for CCA :evil:

Which were the good primary schools last time? Nanyang, Aitong, etc weren't one in my school days.
Both my husband and I came from neighbourhood primary schools. My husband was top 3 in his school for PSLE and 26 out of 33 in my class got into SAP. My primary school was along the same stretch as Queenstown Prim last time. IMPO, go for the nearest primary school if possible. Your child will have more time to sleep and do his/her work. Plus, can save $$ on transport
You never know. Queenstown may be as popular as Nanyang 20 or 30 years down the road.

I'm not too sure about the distance from your home to Xingnan...but I heard good reviews about this school.

I'm not too sure about the distance from your home to Xingnan...but I heard good reviews about this school.

Based on the list above, think there are another few schools also around the area, not sure the exact distance tho.....
West Grove PS
Jurong West PS
Frontier PS

Heard XingNan is good, West Grove and Jurong West are fine too. But then again, it would mean that balloting is most likely required. Back in 2000, West Grove was 3 times over subscribed but I'm not sure of the situation now esp. with new ruling.
