I think hardly have any tutor will guarantee an A* or even a pass even a kid is scoring below 30%.My friend who is super desperate is paying $200+ for 1.5hr for his son's maths tuition!!!!!He's in P5 and super weak in Maths,scoring below 25%.His tutor also never guarantee him a pass!!!!Some centre is charging more than $50 for material fee too!!!! :mad:Does the tutor guarantee >90% for the subject?

This tuition business is so lucrative. No wonder so many of them are posting them here to get business or to moonlight!
Just found out from another parent in my kid’s school that their Chinese teacher had left when school reopens today. This was after many parents complained that she was not committed and we also found out that she was giving so much tuition outside school, charging $50/hr for 2 hours each session and twice weekly.
It is so lucrative no wonder she decided to leave the school instead to give tuition. Just as well she get out if she is not committed to her school job where she gave hardly any homework for the last 1/2 year.
My P6 kid also attended a Science workshop over the June holiday and they were told that the coaches were full-time teachers. When these coaches were asked by the kids where are they teaching, they said cannot tell!
Time really for MOE to step in!! -

MOE pays trainees teachers FULL salary when they are on course in NIE.

And NIE course fees are FULLY paid by taxpayers.. I feel.. the state has been shortchanged probably.. -

If I remember correctly, MOE does not allow teachers to moonlight. If teacher want to moonlight, they have to get approval from the principal and the moonlighting is not allowed to exceed 6 hours per week. Please correct me if I am wrong.
