      Hi 1amber,

Is scooba good? I just bought my irobot & my floor is very clean. I m considering to get the scooba too. But does the water leak?

      1amber:
Bought my scooba 385 last week. A bit noisier than the roomba 780 but still in love with iRobot! Floor so clean and no maid nonsense.

Next target - next year get another roomba and scooba and transfer the current 2 to the kitchen dept. Save some money first.

Someone said earlier irobot causes walls to have black stains. My roomba and scooba don't. Could it be needing servicing to clean up the sides?

Does anyone know if the laundry steam works as well as an iron? It looked easier to use compared to an iron.

I have been reading this thread countless times imagining life without maid. Buy the roomba, dryer, engage PT maid and etc. Feel inspired to go maidless. HOwever, I WORRY I can’t cope since I’m a FTWM. I have two kids who are 4 months and 2 years. They go to infant and childcare centers full time, and my maid stays at home alone during daytime doing household chores. I’m now struggling whether to transfer her since she can be rather free and bore at home all the time.

She has been working for me 6 months now. Basically she don’t have to take care of my two sons. Elder one is taken care by DH and younger one is taken care of by myself when we come back from work and on weekends. DH says it good to eat homecook food and does not want to help out much with housework but he is active to take care of son. I am still training my maid to cook food for the family. Every night I have to brief her how to cook for next day dinner and she helps to keep the house tidy.

Anyone has advise for me? Should I continue with her contract?

since you have a maid, you may want to consider letting her look after your older boy. Maybe you can leave your younger one in infant care if you don't trust her enough. Home cooked food is much much healthier than eating out. Even the oil used at home is better. Your maid can cook simple lunch for herself and your son. When he takes nap, she can cook dinner.
Can also save some money getting maid to look after one child, as she is so free the whole day. But have to lay ground rules. Safety is most important. Lock up windows grilles and keep the keys.

              I am maidless now. :rahrah:

Sent her back to her hometown although she wanted the transfer.

Although I am struggling, we are enjoying it. No need to worry for so many nonsense things now.

              Hope I can manage :xedfingers:

I have been maid-less since April.

                The good things are
                1. my mum no longer complains about the maid!
                2. nobody calling from Philippines to ask maid for more money!
                3. no more cutting corners like when she does the housework
                4. no more damage to my furniture
                5. more privacy 🙂

I have a 7 year old and a 2 year old. Mum helps to watch over 7 year old and prep her for school while 2 year old is in child care. Hubby and I will take turns to send him/pick him up from childcare. Mum will help to cook dinner and we will do the dishes, supervise on homework and prep the kids for bed. Laundry is done on Friday evening and ironing is done on Sunday mornings.

I will deploy the iclebo to clean sections of the house at a time. So at 10pm at night, it will help me to vacuum the floors of the living room n dining room. I will set it in the bedrooms on alternate evenings when we are having dinner. Come Saturday, I will make it vacuum the whole house before I start to mop. Reason I'm still using the wet mop n bucket is because I stocked up on floor detergent previously as my ex-maid tends to use a lot of it! So better not to waste it, lol.

When my #2 arrived, we decided to get a maid...no choice bcos part time won't be of help. Washing and cooking is endless. Finances super tight but we told ourselves to tahan until at least infant stage, porridge is over.
Expenditure really shot up - gas & water bill, rice (1 month about 8kg) household stuff like detergent finish so fast. Heartache man.

No more maid when daughter turned 4. Now enjoying privacy with just 4 of us in the flat.

I’m without my maid for almost one month! Heh to someone who knows nuts about housekeeping yeah!

The first time I got was my scooba (fabulous) cos hubby and me both loves stepping on squeaky clean floor. Just that scooba doesn’t reach the sides of the room but hey!my maid doesn’t clean there too.
I’m thinking of getting a roomba as well but paymaster says wait. So I’m using magic clean before letting my scooba to run.
I need advice on washing of clothes.
Currently I’m washing every night after dh and myself back fm work and not doing any household chores. But it is so tiring. If I don’t wash everyday, where can I place the soiled clothes? I tried dumping all in a laundry basket and there was a cockroach hidding in the midst of the clothes. What can i do abt this?
                      TIA

The cockroach hiding could be a one-off thingy. Rid the house of cockroach is of priority. Make sure you clean your inside of every cupboard once in 6 months. Leave no food outside overnight, clear clutters. If your rubbishchute is in the house then I can't help cos I don't have the same thing. I've been putting my laundry in my laundry trolley since and has been serving me well. I washing my clothes either once in 2 days or sometimes 2 or 3 times in a day if I change bedsheet/floor mat that day. If shirts or T-shirts are soiled with sweat (esp after golf), then I will leave it to dry before putting in the basket.
