btw, as I parent, I would feel proud and maybe brag about it only if my kids achievements are obtained w/o tuition. If it is paid for (in a way).. what is there to be proud of.. (for those parents who brag when their kids did it with $$$$$ tuition/enrichment lessons).. just my personal opinion..

      limlim:
no matter how my SO nag and nag..

I just refused to let my kids go for tuition..

no matter how limlim's SO nag and nag..

he just refuse to let his kids go for tuition..

so when they do well, he can finally brag and brag..

      Your point being?

Are you proud of achievements that are obtain via certain advantages? especially advantages that can be bought with MONEY.

If they didn't top the class, so be it.. I'm not going to pile them with loads and loads of enrichment classes or tuition, just to be kiasu.

If they did excel, what is wrong with being proud of it?

There is never the need to worry about who should get the credit or whether they deserve less credit if their achievement was due to the help of others.

Singapore should be SO PROUD of the sliver medal for ping pong in the Olympics..

Singapore team has achieved great and done well.. let's celebrate..

            sorrie..

I am not interested in this type of \"success\". IMO, It is nothing to be proud of.

YMMV. You are free to disagree.

think some of the trained lawyers in SG have become performing artistes in the theatre industry.

We have many in mediacorp who are degree holders. If my kids want to be a dancer or actor/actress, I am all for it, AFTER they get a degree. At least they have a back-up plan or if they get tired of acting.

limlim, I can understand your pride as a parent if your children can get through this system without any tuition or enrichment, nothing wrong, you deserve to be proud and in fact very proud, for the amount of money they can help you save. :salute:
