Real reason behind Singapore’s obsession with tuition
-
limlim:
limlim, I can understand your pride as a parent if your children can get through this system without any tuition or enrichment, nothing wrong, you deserve to be proud and in fact very proud, for the amount of money they can help you save. :salute:
Your point being?
Are you proud of achievements that are obtain via certain advantages? especially advantages that can be bought with MONEY.
If they didn't top the class, so be it.. I'm not going to pile them with loads and loads of enrichment classes or tuition, just to be kiasu.
If they did excel, what is wrong with being proud of it? -
limlim:
Haiyo.... Limlim has become the brown bear... :siam: Chill...wonderm:
There is never the need to worry about who should get the credit or whether they deserve less credit if their achievement was due to the help of others.
Singapore should be SO PROUD of the sliver medal for ping pong in the Olympics..
Singapore team has achieved great and done well.. let's celebrate..
sorrie..
I am not interested in this type of \"success\". IMO, It is nothing to be proud of.
YMMV. You are free to disagree.
But what's \"YMMV\"? -

[quote=\"limlim\"]btw, as I parent, I would feel proud and maybe brag about it only if my kids achievements are obtained w/o tuition. If it is paid for (in a way).. what is there to be proud of.. (for those parents who brag when their kids did it with $$$$$ tuition/enrichment lessons).. just my personal opinion..
limlim:
no matter how limlim's SO nag and nag. he just refuse to let his kids go for tuition.. so when they do well, he can finally brag and brag..no matter how my SO nag and nag..

1) If your child’s teacher presumes the class has already learnt the topic and throws them worksheets, will you get a tutor ?
2) If your child’s teacher finishes a science topic in 1 lesson, will you be afraid ?
This is happening. -

Did you feedback to the teacher or HOD or Principal?1) If your child's teacher presumes the class has already learnt the topic and throws them worksheets, will you get a tutor ?

I remember when dd was in P4, in a meet parent session, the teacher told me, dd math was not good enough. She asked me was dd having tuition? When I said no, guess what was her suggestion? She suggested me to get dd a tutor. I was like .... Hur??? Anywy, I did not take her advice. -
Hi daisyt,
I see no reason how I can possibly approach the P or HOD.
My son is still studying in the school. All I can say is it is really pointless. Sorry if this is selfish but my hands are tied. -
