It would be good if principals can stay at least 7 years in one school. At least he/she can take the batch from P1 to 6. When we did PV, we were so impressed with the ex-principal's caring nature. She is firm and commands respect. She is also very hands-on and friendly.

She interviewed potential PVs personally. Insisted on not more than 20 to try to take in all kids, even though there is no guarantee. Throughout the period when hubby and I did PV, she always had a warm smile and hello whenever we see her. But after we registered son for P1, she told us she was going to leave. 😢 her stay in the school was longer than usual.
It would be good if principals can be VOTED by the school children/parents to stay on or leave every 3-4 years. Suitable ones we want to keep(chemistry is important), not-so-effective ones for that particular school maybe can thrive better in a different environment? Win win for everyone right? 🦆 :siam:

A good principal is very crucial…if she has EQ, her staff will follow suit. I still miss this lady.

A female principal should show care to students and her staff. This way, she can gain the respect. After all, a principal is like a CEO. Respect is a 2 way thing. It has to be earned. A top-down approach will not be helpful. Go to the ground level, understand problems/worries faced by kids and parents. If need to, organize workshops to help parents learn how to coach kids.
Teachers who have a caring principal will in turn show care and love for the students.
Janet Jie Jie, Why the need to specify the gender?

Bcos female principals are safer to have around than males. Wait, I am NOT implying all males are not trustworthy. Before I get thrown eggs.

A good principal is one who is willing to meet parents to discuss any urgent concerns regarding their child

I heard that a sec school principal went all out to get his students who were habitual latecomers to attend school instead of playing truant by going to their home to wake them up. He would bring the students out for breakfast before going to school. His sincerity won over the students. This school produced the top students for NA last year. I'm not naming the school here but you go figure. 😉

The worst principal that one could meet:

Ultra Ego – he is always right

Abrasive and rude – challenges students and parents to complaint to MOE, or ask you or your kids to get out of the school if you are not happy

Disrespectful - to the students, parents and teaching staff

Beware: one school in the west has one of such "quality"

Former scholar? Maybe, thinks he/she smarter than everyone else!
                    Curious. Primary or Secondary School?

He looks old, was transferred from another JC, doubtful he is from scholar route.

Perhaps he has connections high up in gov.sg to display such arrogance.

He could even get away with using all students as walking advertisements for a commercial sporting goods company (official school PE attire, including socks are labeled with the name of the sporting goods company).

It is unheard of that any other MOE schools ever stoop so low just to please a commercial company; just too commercially motivated - would be surprised if it is allowable by MOE standards.

He survived the fall out with parents on the recent iPad incident….that was ugly….

It is a very well established school with long history near Jurong point…

                      go figure

This principal must have lots of 'kao4 shan1' (strong backing) to be so arrogant. Why is he so special ?
