Quality of principal

Janet Jie Jie, Why the need to specify the gender?
A female principal should show care to students and her staff. This way, she can gain the respect. After all, a principal is like a CEO. Respect is a 2 way thing. It has to be earned. A top-down approach will not be helpful. Go to the ground level, understand problems/worries faced by kids and parents. If need to, organize workshops to help parents learn how to coach kids.
Teachers who have a caring principal will in turn show care and love for the students. -

Bcos female principals are safer to have around than males. Wait, I am NOT implying all males are not trustworthy. Before I get thrown eggs. -
A good principal is one who is willing to meet parents to discuss any urgent concerns regarding their child

I heard that a sec school principal went all out to get his students who were habitual latecomers to attend school instead of playing truant by going to their home to wake them up. He would bring the students out for breakfast before going to school. His sincerity won over the students. This school produced the top students for NA last year. I'm not naming the school here but you go figure.

The worst principal that one could meet:
Ultra Ego – he is always right
Abrasive and rude – challenges students and parents to complaint to MOE, or ask you or your kids to get out of the school if you are not happy
Disrespectful - to the students, parents and teaching staff
Beware: one school in the west has one of such "quality" -

He looks old, was transferred from another JC, doubtful he is from scholar route.
Perhaps he has connections high up in gov.sg to display such arrogance.
He could even get away with using all students as walking advertisements for a commercial sporting goods company (official school PE attire, including socks are labeled with the name of the sporting goods company).
It is unheard of that any other MOE schools ever stoop so low just to please a commercial company; just too commercially motivated - would be surprised if it is allowable by MOE standards.
He survived the fall out with parents on the recent iPad incident….that was ugly….
It is a very well established school with long history near Jurong point…

This principal must have lots of 'kao4 shan1' (strong backing) to be so arrogant. Why is he so special ?The worst principal that one could meet:

Could be OT, but with the posting of principals nowadays lasting only 5 years (correct me if I'm wrong), how is the quality of principal going to affect the school? Would existing programmes implemented by the ex-principal remain? I really like DS' current principal, but with the shorter terms, unlike in the old days where principals tend to stay for years until they retire (which would really set the tone for the school), I am worried that he'll be posted out when DD enters DS's school next year.
Not true.. the Principal of Catholic High School (Pri & Sec) has been with the school since 2002.. And I'm pretty sure he will want to be around next year 2013, to see the birth of his ''Baby\" - the new Integrated Programme of CHS (Sec)... :celebrate: -
