Is two-week vacation leave after only one year reasonable?
-
Agree. A few of my friends had maids who didn’t want to go back after completing 2-year contracts and received similar quantums of cash compensation for air tickets. They seemed very happy!

When maid set their mind to go back am sure they will try ways & means to find excuses to go back.
Is hard to said NO or else they will black face thru out and if a mother, the more we have to let them go back to see her own children.
My maid worked for my mum & sis two years and transferred to work for me another 2 years. In all, by end Dec 12 is 4 years. She requested to go back for home leave, I asked if she going to continue to work for me after Dec contract ends, can she wait till Dec go back. She said yes to continue and will not go back in Dec. Also that her father is in hospital, I knew she is lying bout father being sick but I kind enough to let her take leave to see Hb & her kids.
I arranged her to go back last months, till to-date she has not return. Due to change of rules (am not sure) she giving me all excuses for not able to board plane twice despite documents couriered over to her. Genuine or not is hard to contact her now. Anyway is common that after maid back home, usually do not want to return.
I strongly advice do not give advancement- give her only her salary and promised that only if she return, she can have advancement of salary to be Wire to her family if really in need.
Am lucky in the sense that she has 4K with me – I allowed her to wire back 3k 3 days b4 she leaves. I holding 1k + ½ month salary.
My father & hubby each gave her $30 for pocket money , airticket x 2 + others misc $630 total 60+630 =$690 + Loan her 2 branded big bags so almost = 1K.
Also, before she leaves for airport – check her luggage.
Does anyone claimed levy with MOM before while maid on leave? What’s the procedures and requirement? -
ksks3mum:
you can go to mom.gov.sg website to lodge a waiver, but only after the maid has returned to singapore because you need to submit document like air ticket and copy of the immigration chop on the passport as proof

the refund will be offset against the level in the month when the refund is approved -

Only way is to cancel her wp and see if it can be done retroactively based on when she leaves the country. Else wait for her return like what vks2010 suggested.
But how to keep waiting for her to return? For me, the risk is if she return using the wp, but not to the employer home. that will be the real headache.
I think it’s good she has money with the employer. I’m impressed she hasn’t flown back back yet for that amount. Usually I will keep - but in the bank, and under her name (joint account), and usually the quantum is not so much becos she would want to bring home to buy land/house etc. -

You don't have to prove that at all.
Immigration Dept will have record of everyone leaving/ entering. Left, but didn't enter subsequently - they will prove that she's gone and didn't come back. (unless ahe came back but you don't know :yikes: ) -
if the maid has not returned, you simply cancel the work permit. no way for her to return using the wp and go to someone else
the wp is issued to work for you - your name is on her wp - no way she can work with anyone else
and based on the cancel date, FWL payment will stop
if you have proof like airticket showing departure date, there is way for MOM to verify with immigration, their computers are linked, to verify the departure date, and claim the refund, but takes time
gahmen won’t eat our money this way -
think it is time to train your kids to help with chores and do without a maid
