      Hi Champion,

If fail to get a seat at Rulang, I will consider Xingnan.

Xingnan will be fill up during P2C... If fail in Rulang, u left Boon Lay Gardens and Corporation PS

      2011
at end of Phase 2C, Xingnan still had remaining 24 seats for applicants in Phase 2C Supp.
Turn to page 217 of \"Jurong West schools\" thread balloting detail:-

last year, four schools in Jurong West that required balloting in Phase 2C were:-
Rulang, Shuqun, Frontier & West Grove.

the rest: just walk in, no need balloting.

you may also google, review past 2010 balloting info for Rulang / Xingnan.

both mummy of 3 and phtthp have given you a good analysis and suggestion for the upcoming P1 registration :celebrate:

Just to add on my 2 cents worth of opinion 😂 - do consider the distance and travelling time when you are choosing the back-up plan for the kid. I am not suggesting which school is good, better or best in term of preference (academic result etc.).

From your place to travel to Xingnan Pri @ JW ST. 91, travelling by car will take less than 10 mins. But when your kid goes up to upper primary, he/she will need to stay back CCA, supplementary lessons, school activities then there will be time that he/she will have to travel via the public bus.

The only bus that ply between your place and Xingnan Pri is bus No. 99 - board at bus stop in front of Blk 457.

But the above will not be an affecting factor if you have someone or yourself to fetch/send your child 😄

Hi Champion, mummy of 3 and phtthp,

          Thanks for the information.

Xingnan is a bit far from my site, I haven't think about the upper primary yet

my friend told me Boon Lay Garden also can consider as back up, and this is nearer to my place. :scratchhead:

frankly, I don't know about the education system here (we are coming from Msia) just pray hard that can get in Rulang.

if your child is Not a Singapore citizen, slim chance for Rulang.
SC kids staying > 2 km are given priority to enter first, before any PR kid staying less than 1 km, under Phase 2C.

Reading this makes me kind assured again since this P1 registration draws nearer..... my gal is going to p1 next year but i also did not do any PV etc...just intend to send her to the neighborhood sch nearest to us under Phase 2C...

i personally feel that if my gal is in good hands (both of us work FT but parents have to play a part to monitor her environment and friends she mix with) and as long as enjoys herself in the environment, she can excel too...i noticed this in her child care enrichment she attends...while if we start giving too much pressure to the kids, they may not enjoy and may end up having opposite effects....Kids these days already lose too much childhood unlike our days...let lose sometimes thou every parents want the best for their kids. Your best may not be their best.just my own personal view to share...
nowadays we parents are already quit tired working and having to take care of the house so not much time is left coaching the kids. i doubt our parents didn't have so much stress last time!

actually the best thing is for the government to ensure the standard of all the schools then all our kids will be in safe hands....

                Scary:
Which were the good primary schools last time? Nanyang, Aitong, etc weren't one in my school days.

Both my husband and I came from neighbourhood primary schools. My husband was top 3 in his school for PSLE and 26 out of 33 in my class got into SAP. My primary school was along the same stretch as Queenstown Prim last time. IMPO, go for the nearest primary school if possible. Your child will have more time to sleep and do his/her work. Plus, can save $$ on transport 😂
You never know. Queenstown may be as popular as Nanyang 20 or 30 years down the road.
if queenstown does ever become popular my kids will thank me. otherwise they will probably face the same headache i have when they register their kids for school! hahha

                  We are Singaporean now.
We hope to provide the better school for our kids if there is a chance

                    Hi anytanz,

Work pressure is driving many crazy. It’s worst if both husband and wife work. After long day in office, still have to coach kids in their schoolwork and THAT is no walk in the park any longer.

                    1) Register for P1 is first stress.
                    2) After that, making sure child is ready for P1.
                    3) School starts, child brings home work that dinosaurs like me don’t comprehend.
                    4) parents pull their hair out trying to get kids to understand.
                    The list goes on…

                        Hi Ichunleo,

Just choose Catholic High at Phase 2A2. Guaranteed seat in a branded school - all boys, SAP, Gifted. What are you waiting for?

You may not even get a place in Nan Chiau even if within 1km. Let’s assume you want to join the Hokkien Huay Kuan (4 years service) or volunteer to get into Phase 2B, that’s still not a guaranteed seat.

If you have a younger girl, then worry about that later. Put the boy in Catholic High first. Pple will kill for that seat. hahaha and Bishan is not that far from Sengkang. Very fast by car.
