      Hi,

I have recently been taking cod liver oil to boost my immune system, the instructions say take 3 tablespoons a day and I did and have been experiencing bad headaches. I have now been taking one teaspoon a day and the headaches stopped. I am wondering if there are real health benefits to taking cod liver oil…and why I had headaches when I followed the dosage as instructed…

Cod liver oil is a good source of omega-3.

Do you have high blood pressure? If you do, it is best you seek doctor’s advice before taking cod liver oil.

There is such a thing as vitamin A overdose…cod liver oil has vitamin A which is supposed to be good. If you take too much, you can experience headaches and dizziness.

              Cel-Tang,

I would like to suggest taking more kiwi fruits instead of fish oil for omega-3. As studies had shown that kiwi fruit seeds contain high ALA nutrients where our body can absorb can effectively convert it into DHA & ALA (which are omega-3 nutrients).

First of all, its of plants and natural form, where it does not brings side effects. Furthermore, we obtain DHA & EPA from fish oil & cod liver is what they had converted it from consuming seaweeds (ALA nutrients). Our body system can convert ALA into EPA & DHA, however we are unable to combine EPA & DHA into ALA.

I would suggest you take more kiwi fruit for omega-3, alternatively I can introduce you to O-Seed (consist of kiwi fruit seeds and chia seeds) to provide you daily requirement of omega-3 nutrients. And it does not comes with any side effects as its wholesome fruit.

My email is [email protected] or can sms me at 92211090.

Lead a healthful life, own it and manage it.

Thanks, I just learnt something new.
With the cold weather now, I give my kids cod liver oil 3x a week...hope it can boost immunity. Thinking of getting the Nordic brand cod liver oil which has omega 3.

My kids are taking Nordic brand artic cod liver oil and have done so for years. It is organic and is very pure and natural and contains omega 3,6 and 9. It has a clear light colour and is great tasting without the fishy taste unlike Scott's Emulsion which is milky in colour and taste horrible.

You can choose flavours from lemon, orange to strawberry. The oil does not come cheap.....A Small bottle costs about $50 plus and the large bottle is about $90.

So far my kids enjoy taking it everyday and it has helped boost their immune systems.

                      Hi Mummylow,

Thanks for the info…my son took Nordic peach flavour, thanks to a friend’s recommendation. Saw it sold at a shop in Paragon but was contemplating to get or not. Scotts emulsion smells terribly fishy.
