All About Life Without Maids

maidless 2 mths now… busy but with some planning … dinner and housework with help of machines… can be done.
lovin it ! kids are more responsibled too, they help to keep toys… and not mess up… they sit on dining table for meals insteadf of walking about with food in hand… i feel happy with the change… and they understand now no more kakak… only mummy and daddy is cleaning the place… they seem more sensible and understanding…
we eat out once a week in restaurant on weekend, one dinner at PIL’s house… so these 2 days let my kitchen rest… the utility bill reveals… gas drop tremendously… water slightly, electricity slightly up (cos dryer, iclebom, more washing machines cycles)…but worth it !!
We can do it without maid for sure !! jia yu all ! -
Nope, can't be removed to wash. Heh guess one thing less to worry probably can vacuum instead and then get professionals to come in.
As for crockroaches, after that scary incident, I have placed combat all over the house heh expensive but hopefully is useful. I have not tackled cooking yet doing housework and looking after my 6 mths old baby is tiring enough already! Can't imagine how all the rest of u do it here
but without the maid I do see my hubby more proactive around the house and sweeter towards us.
Now I'm looking at cleaning companies to provide part timers to come in to help in those big items like cleaning ceiling fans, walls, windows and grills. Any recommendations? -
Ahkeong,
Go out with 2 maids look very cool…people think the couple must be very capable to have 2 maids. I once saw this couple at botanic garden having picnic with 2 kids and each kid was attended by one maid. Wow.
My gas bill shot up when I had maid…they opened windows wide while boiling water. Wind was so strong…simply waste of gas. Without any maid since 5 years, we have more privacy and hubby also helped with housework. Most importantly, PUB bill dropped so much and my blood doesn’t boil now. -

When I had a maid then, I closed 2 eyes. As a housewife, if I see what exactly they do, I will go nuts. But one thing I learnt is NOT to tell them to do this and that when they are free...bcos maids do not have initiative. They have selective hearing too.

Even with 1 maid, I am stressed facing her, not to mention you have 2. Really have to work or else will die facing them. -

when u have 2, problem is both will start talking and gang up!! mine even had the audacity to go talk to foreign workers in the estate and give them water to drink while we out for work.. end up neighbour told us abt it and when we ask the other, she dun dare to tell on the other one!! damn pissed off.. to think my wife speaks their language and they still dare to do this..

Hi all,
I will be ditching my maid for good. Saw the earlier post on irobot. Am quite interested to get one to vacuum the floor. Which model is good for a 5 room flat? How much is it?
How about mopping the floor? What type of floor detergent can clean best on ceramic flooring?
Anyone can help? -

Or incapable? Because cannot manage?
ahkeong.. we have been maidless forever.. but now seriously might have to consider as we now have four children.. we are still managing great but can be exhausted on certain days (when things just don't seem to turn out right) :frustrated: but most days house is still very clean and can put food on the table (if no time to cook we buy or dine out) :please:...
My aunt had to Filipino maids and on one off day the family saw them touting for customers at lucky plaza! :yikes: -
when maidless got to take things easy… sometimes i just bake pizza for dinner, simple dish, and house cleaning just leave it to weekends… weekends one of the day will dine out… kids get to try different food too… and we try to do as much outdoor, good for the kids and no need mess up the house… hee… come back home bath, read story books, drink milk… sleep… been doing ok for the past 2 months… am confident this will last… tired at some days… as DH just cant seem to chip in as much as i wish he can… find it useless to nag at him… waste my energy … so decided to jst take it easy … what if floor is a mess, what if the dishes are piled up… what if there us laudry needs to be done… all these can wait… prioritise… feed/clean the kids first… when they r happy… we are happy and things get easier…
