WOW!! mrswongtuition :udawoman:
I'm considered a young mummy & I'm very \"auntie\" according to my colleagues.
My \"auntie\" adventures:
- Go around collecting Popular, Shop & Save, Giant, NTUC, etc stickers/stamps/points to get discounts/vouchers/free gifts. Will ask my family & colleagues to pass to me if they don't want. Sometimes will also go online forums to exchange with other 'aunties'.
- Check out which credit card has the best points system & most value for 'points' items for exchange. Then try to maximise the use of that card, even for groceries. Best if company purchases all use my card so that I can get the points (my hb's monthly company purchases can run up to $10k+++. Imagine how many points we've gotten!)
- Take note of prices of items we normally buy at different supermarkets. Cheong down to buy in bulk when there's a good promo. --> My maid has learnt this & taken over this duty.
- Search online for cheap supplements (of cos only the usual brands that we buy). Join or organise bulk purchases to stretch our dollar!
- Have excel sheets for prices of milk powder (by KG) and diapers (per pc) in my HP. Will update accordingly when we see new prices or new brands/promos.
- Buy in BULK. We have a chest freezer because we go to the frozen seafood & meat wholesaler to buy chicken, pork, beef steaks, etc. Very cheap! I also have a cabinet full of formula milk for my boy. Saw a very good promo & stocked up on 10 tins.
- Always ask for discounts or free gifts, even if you are purchasing from big departmental stores, sometimes they can throw in something FOC or give you vouchers

Hi,
I will "generously’ said YES. I AM SUPER AUNTY. I believe every cents count. …
For groceries, i am not a "brand royalty", which means i switch from brand to brand. From coffee to shower foam, I will go for OFFER items, for those TOP brand i will work out to see if it is cheaper to buy. However, i will not stock up. The most i will buy 1 extra.
For kids’ necessities like diaper & milk powder, I would stick to the usaul brand though. As they grew older at 3yo, my "pattern" shows liao, since they are more "adaptable", i will switch to cheaper diaper & milk powder, but still not to the cheapest, cos they are not suitable. But as compared to the originally brand, i can really save a lot.
Now coming to year end, time to ourchase books for ds1. I "booked’ my sister to pass down similar textbooks, and hence i will spend less than $50.00. -
I would offer my wife up for the Super Aunty of the Century award, if it exists, but fortunately it doesn't, and so I still exist.
Key citations:
- Collecting Giant's stamps. Apparently you only get 1 stamp for purchases of $50 and above. So she would make the counter girl to beep out exactly $50 worth of stuff and pay for each separately so that she gets her money's worth of stamps. No, it doesn't matter how long the queue is behind her.
- She only visits fast food restaurants if she is armed with their promotional discount coupons.
- When going for buffet meals, despite her lithe figure, her stamina and ability to continuously imbibe food over 2 hours is legendary, compared with my wimpy gulp-down-my-fill-in-5-minutes-and-I'm-full demeanor. It is awesome to watch the buffet master at work. Of course, she will subject us to a fast for hours prior to each buffet event.
- I am not allowed to shop at Isetan or Watson's or OG or any other place where she holds a personal membership or discount card in her absence. So if you are a shop owner, think seriously about issuing family cards or you'll be losing business from the husbands

When I was younger, with a higher metabolic rate and in puberty, I think buffet organisers were afraid of me cos I have a bottomless pit and since I eat slowly, my body digests well and I can take more without discomfort. Now, sashimi and I still go for buffets and though our capacity is lower now, we still eat more than your average couple.- When going for buffet meals, despite her lithe figure, her stamina and ability to continuously imbibe food over 2 hours is legendary, compared with my wimpy gulp-down-my-fill-in-5-minutes-and-I'm-full demeanor. Yes, sashimi will fast before a good buffet.
Hey, when we intend to go shopping seriously (i.e., not window shopping), we will ask around for membership cards first. Kinokuniya, OG, Metro, Watson's, etc. So it's not just your wife.

Let me contribute some more ways to save and be kiasu:
HSBC has ongoing $1 treats promotion. Between hubby (Uncle behavior) and I, we've redeemed 3 swensons' 1pint ice cream, 2 personal pan pizza from pizza hut and somemore for tomorrow..prob sakae sushi.
Redeem reward points collected during the whole year just before credit card renewal; so the card company can't use your points to renew. And if they decide to charge you renewal fees; tell them they can keep the card.

Hee hee,
Can I nominate DH to join this club?
There is no super uncle club here leh.
DH is the purchaser for the family.
He buys all the groceries. He usually buys it from Giant.
he goes on double stamps day so that he can collect double stamp.
He also loosk out for the special buys and he can resist buying his favourite necessities if there is a cheaper brand. Same goes for food.
He collects the fast food coupons and only eats as fast food restuarant when there is a promotion with the coupons.
He refuses to drive to TM. He takes the bus as it saves petrol and parking fees.
He recycles whatever that can be recycles.
When he goes for buffets, he takes his own sweet time to savour all the different varieties of food.
He visits polyclinic when he is sick as it is cheap with a lot of med.
He choose to stay in B2 ward when he can stay in a better ward as he says medical treatment is the same. Only difference is with aircon or without aircon.
And the list go on and on...
