When ds1 was P1. I bought him a POP Kids bag. At P2, I bought him a Mickey Mouse bag, but he said that his POP bag is still good, donโ€™t have to be replaced yet. My maid washed it and it looked brand new again. Now at end of P2, it still looks very good. I think it can last for another year.

DS1 does not need to carry a lot of stuff to school daily. The only textbook he brings to school daily is the Higher Chinese Text. The rest are some worksheets in the files, stationaries, some exercise books, a water bottle, and 1 -2 storybooks.

My opinion is, if the kids need not carry a lot of things to school, we should choose a school bag that is as light as possible and yet sturdy for them. Some of the ergonomic bags are already quite heavy even when empty.

By the way, need advice here. If school DOES allow trolley bags, would you still opt for ergo bag or trolley bag instead?

Yes. I did. My DD has two bags.
She started with trolley bags in P1
cause the school allowed it + the P1
classes are all ground level. When her
bag is not so heavy i get her to bring the
        Campro haversack bought from Popular.
Not the expensive ergonomic kind but will
do... it is good enough. At least for P1 lah.

In P2, on and off she will still use her trolley
bag. I am okay with it. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Thanks buds. Now you gave me a brilliant idea - check out his classroom level. If 1st floor, will delay his ergo bag to later year/s.

            Hi All,

Important to get a bag that can accomodate A4 size folder? If not like some parents said where the child need to carry in the hand all the time!
My DS classroom would be in 2nd floor, so I intedn to get Ergo bag.

Does the POP Bag from Popular seem good? How is it compare with IMPACT, SPI & Deuter?

NOTE : Not many P1 books are A4 sized.

And some workbooks are kept in the school (with the teacher).
The school will inform which are the books they will keep around mid 1st wk.

I think rather than ensuring the bag can take A4 size, you should preferably get the kind that can take files/papers/books that will not curl the top corners. My DDโ€™s sch requires them to have homework files colour-coordinated by level. For her first bag, the files and a few bigger books kept getting dog-eared. Then, her bag gave way (cannot tahan the rough usage) so we replaced it with one that was "taller" and we stopped having the "dog-eared" problem.

                      Hi,

Went to my ds orientation last Saturday.
There was a vendor selling ergo bag, brand: Firelfy.
                      Selling at $45 / $55(latest model).

Any reviews on this brand and also is the price considered expensive for a bag like that??

                      Thanks

I whole-heartedly agree with the above. :celebrate:
I have personal experiences with this as well. ๐Ÿ˜‰
I've bought my DD1 a small hole-puncher to do up
the holes properly in the folders. I simply hate it
when i see papers dog-eared and not aligned in a
straight up fashion with the rest of the other papers.
That's when i will step in and sort them out properly. :x
