        Wendy and Ling had some ribbon. Wendy's ribbon was 8.68 m long at first. After she cut off 1.24m and gave this to Ling, Wendy had 4 times the total length of ribbon that Ling had. What was the original length of ribbon Ling had?

        Pl explain me detail..... 😢
        Before, Ling's ribbon -> u
        Before, Wendy's ribbon -> 8.68

        After, Ling's ribbon -> u+ 1.24
        After, Wendy's ribbon -> 8.68-1.24 = 7.44

        To equal them for \"after\", 4 x Ling = Wendy (or you can view as Ling = 1/4 Wendy)

        4(u+1.24) -> 7.44
        4u + 4.96 -> 7.44
        4u -> 2.48
        u -> 0.62
        Original length Ling had was 0.62m

            There were some passengers on board an MRT train which began its journey from Jurong East station.At the first stop,5/8 of the passengers alighted and 16 passengers got in.At the second stop,half the passengers on the train got of and 23 passengers boarded the train.At the next stop,4/7 of the passengers alighted and 66 remained on the train.How many passengers did the train have at the start of its journey?

            Can someone please help me fast? I have to hand up my school homework tomorrow
            I would really appreciate your help
            😢
            Hi
            work backwards..

            In the end, 66 remained = 3/7 of passengers after 2nd stop.

            after 2nd stop --> 66/3 x 7 = 154 passengers on board
            154 - 23 = 131 (after 1/2 the passengers got off)--> 1/2 the passengers after 1st stop

            after 1st stop --> 2 x 131 = 262 passengers on board
            262 - 16 = 246 (after 5/8 alighted) --> 3/8 of passengers at start of journey
            Number of passengers at start of journey = 246/3 x 8 = 656

            cheers.

              hi

              rewrite 0.8 as fraction --> 0.8 = 4/5.
              So, the question becomes :
              Edwin weighs 48kg680g. He is 4/5 as heavy as susan. Find their total weight in kg.

              cheers.

                    2/3 of Sunny's marbles is equal to 3/5 of Tin's marbles.

                    If sunny has 4 marbles less than Tin, how many marbles does Tin have? 😢
                    Pl explain me...Thanks in advance.

                      At a school swimming event, 1/3 of the sudents were boys. Given that 2/5 of the boys and 3/5 of the girls did not know how to swim, how many student were there altogether if there were 490 swimmers at the event? 😢

                      Pl explain. Thanks in advance.
