What does it say about the honesty and integrity of Kong Hee and Pringle that they would seek to impress their flocks with probably bogus \"doctorates\" from an outfit such as NCIU?

NCIU is not an accredited U, so maybe he is shy to use d Dr referent.
Quite a few local head honchos also got doctorates fr degree mills,
but they not shy with d Dr. salutation

The Straits Times reports that two American authors of a Christian study book have accused him of using their work without proper credit or permission.

Although Professor Sid Buzzell and Dr Kenneth Boa say they will take no legal action on Kong Hee, both have asked the Pastor to stop using their material immediately. Otherwise, Professor Buzzell would “threaten him with exposure to his church”.

Kong Hee had copied the authors’ work without due credit in two books he published entitled ‘Renewing Your Spiritual Enegery in 90 Days’ Volumes I and II. Both books are still available at major Christian bookstores from $15 to $18.90.

It's not entirely clear if the New Covenant International master's degree is the qualification required for ordination as the exact date of award of the degree is not stated and his date of ordination is very close to the start of the year.

Perhaps it's best to ask Bethany Christian Centre. Anyone has any idea of how one gets ordained? It doesn't seem to be controlled by one central body.

Personally I have only heard of people getting degrees from local bible college or UK university.

From what I gather from my friends in AG churches, each AG church functions like an autonomous church and each church is allowed a high degree of liberty of setting their own teachings and even appoint their own pastors. It is not uncommon to see an AG church with around 10-12 pastors, whereas an equivalent sized Methodist or Prebysterian may only have around 1-3 pastors because of the strict procedures to train and ordain pastors in the traditional denominations (my pastor shared to me that on average a Methodist pastor will need to spend close to 10 years of training and internship before fully ordained as a reverend).

Maybe someone from an AG church here can shed the light on the procedure?

Full-time CHC employees are loyal for a good reason. They are very well rewarded financially. Although CHC is registered as a charity, in the 2008 financial statement, CHC distributed $2.9m out to charity and spent 3.2 times more ($9.29m) on its own employees. This will motivate its volunteer workforce to work hard to get a chance to join its full-time staff.

Now we know why they are so loyal :snuggles: :grphug:

I always feel that the Singapore government is quite efficient in setting systems for checks and balances, in fact some of these systems that we have to deal with sometimes create so much pain. If you own a landed house, try reconstructing it and you will realised that you have to deal with a good handful of authorities who will check your bath rooms configurations, to the size of your windows and not to mention, the materials that you use (and so much more!). But I think for the sake of building safety, some things are necessary evils.


Now that we have read so much about KH:
1) Criminal breach of trust
2) Conspiracy to commit criminal breach of trust
3) Participation in falsification of accounts
4) Questionable teachings
5) Questionable qualification
6) Questionable business practices
7) Questionable way of spending a charity’s funds

I mean, look at the above, like it or not, it is not something that happened in a day or two, the soup has been boiling for a long time.

I am seriously beginning to wonder how on earth can all these be happening here in Singapore? Are there many more HK around doing the same thing?

Quite disappointing… really…

I suppose when there are some legal implications of one’s doings with relevant authorities digging out the evidences, then it makes it easy to talk and uncover more issues related to the doings of the same person.


Otherwise it would be deemed as common coffee-shop talk unsubstantiated, so even if there are other such cases, it will not surface in a big way until they have been reported.

Perhaps there should be a law to give back these courageous lads their rightful names IF AND WHEN one such day, it is proven that they were right after all.
