any food to help child improve brain-power and be focused?
-
my dd has made lots of careless mistakes in her Maths school work. When I asked her for the reason, she said she was not focused (she did her work between 3 and 4.30pm).
She has about 7.5 hours of sleep daily. I wonder if there is some specific food that could help children to be more alert and focused…
any advice please… thanks! -
Hi Sharon1234,
I think you should increase her hours of sleep. School student needs to sleep at least 9 to 10 hours a day. Sleep deprivation leads to lower alertness and concentration. It also impairs memory. It’s more difficult to focus and pay attention.
As for foods, a diet rich in essential fatty acids, fruits, vegetables, supplements (gingko) does wonders for your brain power.
JMHO..

Taking cod-liver oil helps:)

Thanks for sharing.
I have been working on her sleep duration - it is hard sometimes when homework is piling.
For gingko supplement, is it better to buy from those vitamin store, or is it better to buy the original form and cook them as dessert?
For cod liver oil, is the local traditional brand Scotts good enough?
thanks. -
I guess both have its own benefits but do consume it moderately.

Food is important for child but along with that parental guidance is also necessary. I think you should take care of her study. Check whether she is doing her homework and understanding everything properly or not. If not then you should give some time to teach her.

take vitamins and caffeine in food.

Taking vitamins and caffeine…

Maybe giving gingko nuts and maybe dha capsules may help if she’s not too young

Gingko nuts are poisonous if consumed in greater amount, even for adults do not eat more than 8-10 nuts per day as advised by my relative who is a plant scientist. So bad news for those who like them especially those cooked in sweet desert soup!
Besides ample rest and proper nutrition, students need to work on their carelessness by adopting a better attitude towards their work and taking pride in the work they produce. Checking and rechecking is essential after work is done. It takes time to change bad habits and encouragement is the key.
