Hi, reporting here as my DS1 also a 2008 baby.

Surprising when saw this thread created so early and some mummies are so well prepared… But I like it, haha…
This is very important thing, so early preparation is a must.
I stay at AMK area, now just start surveying on the schools located around my block.
So haven’t submit my PV form yet…
Just in case if I decide to go for PV to increase my chance, when is the cut off time? Am I late in this?

Hi mummychia, I think you are referring to the pv? Jts, will all pv applicants be notified on their application? Or again, every school is different?

            hi imami

the school will inform u if u are selected & when to start your PV duties. I did PV for my elder gal & the school conduct interviews prior to selection. But I’m not sure if its the same for all school. U can check with your choice of school when u apply for PV.

                Hi imami

I feel doing PV is not just abt clocking the 40hrs or 60hrs (in some schools), u get to know the school & teachers better & assess if this is the school for your child.

wow...saw the results are out from Phase 1...

my choice of sch only left half of the vacancy for the Phase 2....

Heng this year is not the year yet...

                  🙂
With reducing birthrate, getting child into preferred school should be easier. Right?

Looking at this year number, this might be the case.
Nowadays, parents are better educated and informed thus more KS.
And with the booming tutition centres island wide, getting a guarantee place in 2B or 2C is almost impossible without balloting.

Yes, the birth rate is not high nowadays…but found the latest direction of MOE is plan to change to one session for all school in coming few years, so some of the school start to reach this by cut down the P1 vacancies that they could offered. This is what I worried… Don’t know how many vacancy will be offer in 2014 year.

                        And enrichment centres.
Most of the neighborhood including malls, CC conducts some form of enrichment, tuition...etc for pre-primary onwards.
Which inadvertly influence parents behavior (those not so KS to become KS as well). How often does kid education crop up among friends meetings? Very often we tends to follow the herd mentality (KSu and KSi).
