Does anyone else cringe when they hear this song? http://savinggaia.sg/

I am going to be brutally honest. Whenever 'save my world' is played on tv, my DS n I dash for the remote to save our ears. The solos are just too painfully insipid. The arrangement really isn't fit for repetitive public broadcast. Listening to it once is more than enough. Tks v much.

Yes, we must give credit to the kids for being so enthusiastic about the song. It may have been better if only one choir sang the song instead of getting two different choirs to join forces. Hard to blend the different styles maybe?

I beg to differ. The kids behaved as if they were coerced. Can't see the enjoyment on their faces during the recording session. Only smelled the reluctance.

After reading tuition_czar's post, I happened to catch the it again. I don't feel that the kids are coerced but yes, they looked expressionless. But my take is, they are concentrating on singing the song well. For those who had learnt from the pro would probably know - doing it via ktv is much easier than doing it in the studio where things are totally different. No tv to cue you on when to start singing. It's totally on catching the moment to start while listening to the music.

Everyone can voice their opinion and I think most members here will agree with me - we value honest posts the most 😉

Naggo-nitemare's post reminded me of how I felt when I first watched it-eeeeee..... The singing er... Is less than um nice. The second time I watched it, my child was with me (that was his first time). He literally dropped all he was doing and listened. Watched. I was surprised by how mesmerized he was. As he glued his eyes to the tv, I observed my little prince. Through him, I began to appreciate the music video (ha, if I can call it mv). Call me biased (my child like so I like) but thereafter we would watch it together and talked about the scenes. That's why I thought the original target audience could be the younger generation - to nurture the idea of cherish and conserve.

I like the whole performance and the song seems to be circling in my head. I sing it to entertain myself. I’m no child, but can see it through a child’s eyes (or hear it in this case). If you look at it as an adult, you won’t understand. The song is so pure and innocent and such soft pleas coming from the children : "save my world" Unless you become like a little child …

                I agree with u tutormum. 😉

the singing and performance were of course not perfect, but it is made of sugar and spice and everything nice, namely PURITY. even the nervousness shown and crackling voice were so natural. song - so so, kids - pure and innocent.
Luvvv it ( though my 2 young teenage kids cringe, LOL )

                anyway, I would take THIS

The first video is truthful & real, while the second one is pretentious & fake.. Perhaps, that is the difference between children and adults?

I feel that adults are becoming really harsh on kids nowadays (not only parents to their own kids, but adults to children, in general).. 80+ marks not good enough, must get 90+ marks (or 95+ marks even better).. 'A' not good enough, must get 'A star'.. Neighbourhood schools not good enough, must get into ''branded'' schools.. The list of expectations goes on..

This is a simple song, sung from the kids' hearts, for a good cause.. It is not a competition, it does need to be a perfect score of 100/100.. If MediaCorp had wanted a perfect & flawless delivery of the song, they would have engaged professional singers to sing it (eg, S'pore Idol winners, adult choirs etc).. I do not think that was MediaCorp's intention in the first place..

I used to enjoy listening to the song (& watching the video), humming along merrily whenever i hear it on TV or in the car.. But now, i listen to the song with a heavy heart, as i remember every single negative comment posted here, especially those about the kids..

Thankfully, there are many parents who feel the same way as i feel.. A big hug to all you.. :grphug:

:snuggles: aiyoh... Don't bother to remember the negative comments, just remember there are like minded people whenever you listen to it 😉

Kids are amazing people. As a hands on mum, I try to be involved in my child's growing years. Before I become a parent, I never knew I could have learnt so much from him and how humbling the experience can be. Perhaps adults should look beyond the cuteness and really try to get to know these little people who has so much to offer despite their age.

As for criticism, just a gentle reminder - when you point a finger at something/someone, another three are pointing at opposite direction (towards you).

The latest one with the kids.. crappy.. IMO.. of course, that's my opinion, and you're free to disagree..

Don't like the sound.. don't like the video..

If they film the kids out in the greenery, enjoying nature.., pick up litters along the coast doing meaningful things.. maybe not so bad.. to film them singing.. very boring..

And they should get a proper singer to sing..

ps: There are kids in the video I posted too.. so cute...... this, is well done (last year's video).. IMO..
