What I hate about the current Singapore
-
All this negativity. I think quite a number of Singaporeans are blinkered in their world view. Contrary to the title of this thread, I love being a Singaporean, and I am so glad my boys are born here, as opposed to ANYWHERE else in the world. Come the time, they will serve their NS, as I have. Don’t see why it’s such a big deal to so many about NS. It is a duty, just do it.
Yah, you may hate the g’ment, whatever issues you have with them, but you can’t deny their overall effectiveness. Being in Europe on vacation this last month, just kept bumping into Singaporean youths, at the attractions, in the restaurants, out together with their friends, as opposed to the China tourists who are middle-aged to older, in package tours groups. How would that even be possible without economic strength?
There is plenty to celebrate about being a Singaporean, it is my best home, for me and my family, and I mean it. -

I think the g'ment has over-reacted already and becoming far too populist, possibly to the detriment of our future generations.
:goodpost: DH & I both agree totally about SG has become too populist trying to please. Bad bad. No good. :slapshead:janet_lee88:
Correction: it MUST come in GE2016.
Actually, it SHOULD come before 2016.
The last GE was a big loss for the govt. If it doesn't want to lose more seats the next round, MORE action should be done NOW. Don't please citizens with the 'we are listening'...no-action-talk-only. -

See how far populism has taken other countries. They are paid to lead, I'd rather the g'ment lead than pander.

I'm ok with my son doing NS...hope I don't have a change of mind by then. No matter what, I won't send Laticia or Maria to army with him to wash his boots or change his bed sheet :rotflmao:

It was a competition for kids with groups representing different primary schools :faint: -
LOLMum:
But is this not what Singaporean's are asking for? Exclusion for foreigners? Keep them away from competing with our precious kids?

Singapore is becoming a xenophobic country (or has become). Dreadful.
