Neighbourliness
-
I'm fortunate to be on good terms with most of my neighbours, who are mostly young couples with kids (like us). Our door is always open and sometimes we go over to one another's house for the kids to play together. With such good neighbours, I really can't bear to move.

agree with most parents that kids will open our doors to more neighbours... which school, you go? which clinic, which doctor good? where got good food haha.
We normally give and take. And luckily our neighbours are very accomodating and patient too.
Children are designed to be Noisy.
I would be worried if my kids are all quiet!!
But of course, we do not purposely drag table/chairs in the evenings.
Some quirky neighbours :
1. neighbour on top, work late shift and always wash clothes after 2300.
We know she is hanging her clothes when she BANGs the clothes-poles.
Has been ongoing for years, until we immune already.
2. Another neighbour on same floor, wierdo.
Will avoid taking lift with others. Can you imagine he can take staircase down one floor to take lift, just to avoid some neighbours?
I know because my lift went down and caught him red-handed.
Even my sons commented why this uncle do not take lift at our floor !! keke.
θΏδΊ²δΈε¦θΏι». We never know when we need help. Love our neighbours  -
penglee:
Mebbe its a fengshui thing? Prefer to take lift on the 8th or 18th floor?...

I moved into my current flat when I was 27 and dh 29. Back then, I have neighbours sizing me up and down. My immediate neighbour knocked on my door and told me that they donβt like to mix around so please donβt take too hard if they keep to themselves.
Majority of the older people in the block were giving us cold shoulder. It was fortunate that there were some young couples that move into the block at the same time as us. So, life was bearable then.
11 years on, the older folks have started to be friendlier to us. I guess at that time, they were thinking the flat belongs to my parents and I was pregnant at 16 & dh at 18. Didnβt realize we look so young until we receive so many comments by strangers that we look as though fresh out of secondary school when we have our first kid. -
I used to kanna frequent complaints by an elderly neigbhour from downstairs.
During renovation period, he complained the noise was too loud & our renovation went on for too long. He even stomped uninvited into my house to survey the progress of our renovation.
After we moved in, kanna complained quite a number of times. He even bang hard on my door once, said my kids ran around (in my house) & disturbed his grandchild. I was like ??? that's concrete floor, I never heard any noise from upstairs, I'm surprised his hearing is so good, can hear foot steps. And it's not as if my kids are running around the house the whole day. At most 1 to 2 minutes when one decides to chase another.
Even my mom commented why my neighbour so 'kor tat'?
We still tippy toes around the house, well just in case. -
Back to my downstairs neighbourβ¦
2 days ago, my 2YO was running to and fro in the evening around 9+ at the living room, we told him not to run but he just enjoyed it, while hubby and I were eating dinner and MIL watching the tv.
The police came knocking at our door around 10pm, my hubby opened the door, he told the police he knew their purpose of coming before they even utter a word, hub told them it must be the complain from below neighbour. Hubby called my son, got him to show the police the way he walks and runs.
We told the officer about the previous complains, he understands and said it all boils down to the tolerance level of individual, quoting that his own neighbour upstairs also make soundsβ¦
After the conversation with us and taking down hubbyβs particulars, he went downstairs to talk to the neighbour. I forgot to ask what he would tell the neighbour.
How can a small kid bring so much βtroubleβ to neighbours?
Our floor is laminated wood, he likes to make the βpiak piakβ sound when he walks.
Anyone can advice how to teach my son to walk quietly? -
My next door neighbour is basically alright. But there is one weird thing about them. They don't pick up litters just outside their door. For eg, they hung the lanterns for CNY outside their door but left the plastic bag littering on the floor. I mean, why can't they just pick it up ???

We used to stay in a cluster house and the back of the units are really close.
We were fortunate to be on the higher side. We moved in rather late, and realising I 've got weirder-than-me kind of neighbour I blocked out the windows with 'translucent' plastic sheets.
The two kids are fine, just typical kind of rude kids that scream and yell at their parents and grandma.
Grandma love to torture us by training her maid and giving orders on top of her voice. She will also gossip to maid about what time my mum wakes up and stuff that drives my old lady crazy :x
I should have taken pictures of their maid having dinner in the kitchen, squatting down with a miserable looking plate;
Daddy also like to talk on hp after closing sliding door.... hello- wife cannot hear neighhbour can hor
Then if I 'peep' downwards at the right time, will see maid doing laundry with 10 pails of water around her, or torturing madam's bra with giant peg straight in the middle..... -
MUm dad and bro n sis (11 of us a football team no reserve) used to live in a 2 room flat in old airport
block 53...everyone knows everyone in the block ....
kids on the block all go down to play at 5pm everyday
jump \"long kau\" see-saw swings etc....free enrichment , montessori, outward bound
no tv no handphone such is the neighbourliness we have .....
Very basic for the children but neighbours really connect.
Neighbours doors ...you welcome to knock to ask for help.
Noise , we can't hear them cos every 20min there is an aeroplance that fly past over the block but the noise is loud........
We seem to lost the community closeness as SG prosper.....
Let hope we try and connect again with our neighbour whom we meet everyday

My current neighbours (2 of the units) like to \"stuff\" the common corridor with ANYTHING. From single wooden sofa, boxes, big wok (they run business in coffe shop, so can imagine the BIG wok just dangling at the corridor), junks and recently the worst 1-A FRIDGE!! :!: Over these 12 years, I have ever called Town Council to \"investigate\" on them and they got the junks cleared. For 1 week, the common corridor was clear and spacious..... But that dun last.....
Next week, just before the season arrives, i gotta call Town Council again....
