Been too busy with almost everything!for those interested in cleaning companies- i will do a short update on just relax cleaning company. Came in at 940am although stated 9-930. I’m quite particular because I will be going back work and I’m getting my mother in law to open the doors to them so dont want to waste her time. 2 aunties with cleaning materials- 2 mops, 2 pails, 2 cloths, 1 bottle of jif and 2 bottles of liquids( I know cos they are in my toilet) don’t quite like cos take up space in my already small toilet. Quite systematic as they clean room by room but really "dragonfly touching the water surface" ( direct translation from Chinese) really very surface cleaning. Didn’t have time to do ironing. 2 hours up and they left on the dot.

My issue now is with my mum who comes over every other day to nag about the cleaniness level of my house and laments how

Clean the house was and how white the clothes were when my maid was around. Yesh my mum had a soft spot for my maid cos she didn’t see the bad attitude part. And it really stresses me up when she comes over. Help! Advise how to put it through tactfully cos the last time I told my mum off; we had a meltdown and she returned to her ways the next day

Any SAHM? Can share with me yr daily household chores? Do u set a timetable for yourself? I want to spend more time to revise homework with my kids. But is always tie up with housework.

You sound like a relatively new SAHM without maid. When I retrenched my maid long ago, I tried to keep the same standard as before and I freaked myself out having to take care of 2 little ones and keeping up with the same cleanliness level

10 years later, I am managing so much better now. My conclusion is we have to learn to get along with some dirt, in fact, it will increase your immunity. At a eczema forum I attended, the dermatologist showed us statistic that countries like Singapore and Japan has a much higher percentage of cases than countries like Africa. We are too hygienic for good. 😄

I clean the floor only 2 times a week ( vac and mop), beddings changed fortnightly. Windows, hardly clean. General wiping and dusting of furniture, once a week. Voila, we are all okay. My home is neat and unclutterd so even if not very clean at times still looks and feel okay. I prefer to give more attention to nutrition and the kids school work. I think good eating habits and food choices has to be cultivated from young. Study wise, I do not sit with the kids when they do homework, only when I go thru with them the work I gave them.

I am not good at keeping schedule. I clean when necessary. Nowadays, I try to do a bit more like chemical cleaning the aircon myself, learn some plumbing to fix simple problems. It's adds variety to the chores and feels good to learn something new.

Wow! :yikes: Chemical cleaning your air-con fan coil? You SAHM or SAHD? How to chemical clean your fan coil yourself? you need to dismantle the fan coil and clean the fin with acid and isn't it heavy to bring the coil down?? Kudos!!

                :udawoman: take your pick :udaman:

                  I take first one.

Chemical cleaning by aircon company very expensive, $80/fan coil. I use a cleaning kit from HomeFix. Cost about $10/unit. No need to dismantle whole fancoil, just remove cover, clean filter, spray chemical on the fins and rotary blade. Then spray water. All the dirty stuff fall into a bag provided. No mess. It's quite easy. Just did for my fan coil today, very effective. The cooling effect improves alot and air smells so clean.

Of course it can't beat the aircon man dismantling the whole fan coil and wash every single part of it. But with some DIY, he need not come as frequent.

                      Hello fightingmom,

The product is Aircon Care. The kit consist of
A bag (for 'wearing' over the fan coil to collect dirty water. This bag is useful also when your aircon leaks)
A spray bottle (includes 500ml solution) with long nose spray
                      2litre Chemical solution

I like this whole kit except that the bag's seam is very weak. I advise that you check to ensure the seam is not split at the point of buying. After that, you MUST reinforce the seam with strong tape to make it last. Other than this, the product works well. Look out for group deals on this, the discount is a lot. I paid only $35 for the whole kit plu a bottle of Kitchen Care for cleaning the hob.

babycutie71: Just to share… I find that some SAHM moms cope better when they have a fixed schedule for their young children - and one of the things they swear by is to have the children in bed as early as 7pm or 8pm. After that time, they can have a nice peaceful dinner with the hubby, clean up the house a little, sometimes put on a DVD to watch, and have a good night’s sleep. I tried the same when I was a SAHM and now a FTWM and it seem to give me some ME time too… which I truly value!

As for cleanliness, my mom used to complain as well to which I told her that first, I am not a maid; second, if she is so free to complain, she may help with the cleaning, too! I have other (better) things to do than be a maid. A great point to remember is that a good maid and a good mom does not go hand-in-hand!

                        Good luck!
