My DD & her classmate are through to the Camp round. I wonder how many will be selected at the camp stage? What is the success rate? Sufficient cause to celebrate after the seemingly long wait. Phew!
there are only 153 vacancies. And the principal mentioned during the open house that most of the time, they do not filled all the vacancies cos very selective. -

u mean for selection camp. if so then 400 I think ( I read it somewhere, my brain freeze now :imanangel: ). but still there might be some not accepting as it Clash with other school selection tests falling on same day and other reasons. -

During the Selection Test on 23Jun, think there were ~600 applicants? (based on the namelist on the notice board). Since there are only 153 vacancies and they dun need to fill all up, plus they are gonna attach Teachers to each group, think logistically the selection camp numbers should fall by at least 50% ie. < 300.KiasuClown:

Maybe experienced parents can feedback how big would each group be for the teachers to observe them

There were more than 600 candidates at the 1st stage from just the NUSHS test center. I wonder how many more were at the other centers.
If 160 students get through to the Camp round & if they select 153 - the success rate is high. However, if there are a lot more students in the 2nd stage - then we are looking at a nail-biting finish! Too much stress from anticipation!! -
any parents from last year DSA to NUSH camp share how many went to selection camp and how many offered. I dnt have any more nail to bite :rotflmao:

Hi All
Last year, there were 2017 applicants applied and only about 400 were selected for the 2nd round. Finally, about 160 - 180 selected for confirmed offer and on waiting list. Now, there are about 150 students in Year One. There are 6 classes in total.
This year, I hear that about >1600 applicants applied. -
For the past few years, 400 had been shortlisted for the 2nd selection camp. Given that the final enrollment for Year 1 was around 140 each year and between 15-18 were given a place after S1 posting (10% each year is reserved for S1 posting), one may assume that the around 125 would be selected from the shortlist of 400. Another point to consider, each year the Principal would invite between 40 -50 kids (together with their parents) for a special tea reception before the selection camp. The school may not admit to it but during one such tea reception a couple years ago, one of the school key personnel said "out of 400 selected for the 2nd round camp, we invited only 50 of you for this special occasion, you know why you are here". I would said many of kids in this special group should be assured of a CO. Of course, many would have multiple COs and would not take up a place. So, for those not invited for the special tea reception, I reckon chances of getting a CO would be around 25-30%.
I hope I had not confused anyone with all the figures. -
Yeah, I heard from the Principal as well that each year, they have approx 2000 applicants, local plus overseas. They will select 400 for the Selection Camp and about 150 will be offered. I have not heard of the above, but if it is true, it would mean that about 100 or less slots will be available for the other 350 selected for the selection camp? That would work out to be about 1 out of 4, ie, 25% chance for each child? I suppose we should be realistic that our DS/DD have 25% chance of getting in?
I did heard my DS said something that his fren seemed to have a CO from NUSH, though not confirmed and this fren of his scored extremely well in the Maths Olympiad comp.
