Is reading or writing near the window ok? No direct sunlight though. I don't know where is the best place to read and write. Thought of buying a table lamp for my kids... which brand is the best? And mum in law says that the direct light from the lamp is not too good for the eyes too. True?

      Tks.

Buy a 3M table lamp...rather exp but prob last a lifetime!

Yes, I heard it has polarizing light or something like that. It's explained at the Wish List thread in the Kiasu Acutions forum. I think it will also be available for auction this month. Maybe Chief can confirm this?

We will be offering the Panasonic inverter lamp for auction, NOT the 3M. The inverter lamp uses electronics to control the flicker rate while the 3M uses a filter to polarize light to control the flicker. Both should be end up with the same result - less flicker, less strain on the eyes.

              Hi,

Just found out my daughter has to wear specs cos she’s myopic with a touch of astigmatism. Apparently, they discovered this at last year’s check-up but it was borderline so they didn’t tell us anything!

My husband and I are shocked. He wants to go to a specialist at Mt Alvernia for 2nd opinion. Also wants to go to a specs shop that has a good range for kids. Anyone know of any such shop?

Has anyone tried the Visual Theraphy eyewear (from Guardian)? Does it help to improve the eyesight? Am "forcing" DS to wear it now. Hope it helps.

My 4 years old gal recently failed her eye test and needed to wear glasses. She has amblyopia, long-sightedness and astigmatism. I have been hunting swissflex type of glasses but none suitable for her as the frames are meant for 6 years old and above. Can anyone tell where to get or recommend any optical shops around central area. I went to vivo city, called up capitol optical, spectacle hut, optical 88 and city optics. None carries swissflex for 4 years old!

My gals' eyes test result :
                    Right eye
                    SPH : +125
                    CYL : -150
                    AXIS : 170
                    VA : 6/9

                    Left eye
                    SPH : +125
                    CYL : -125
                    AXIS : 5
                    VA : 6/9

Is this serious? And amblyopia, how serious is it...

My girl has longsightedness (+75) and astig (-125). Her vision is 6/9 without glasses. Both doctor said don’t need spec at the moment.

Jo.omg, I guess your child needs to wear because of the lazy eye or to avoid lazy eye. Lazy eye has to be correct early before certain young age. What is swissfelx glasses?

jacplace, how old is your child and what is her degree?

My boy eyes results : 100 astig and 75 myopia on both eyes. One dr said need to wear all times to avoid lazy eyes, consulted another one said don’t need. He only needs to wear when he needs to see far according to the dr and she said my boy does not has lazy eyes. I am confused. Got a pair of glasses from optic 88 but he can’t see the alphabet from the 2nd last row. I am worried that his degree will get worsen in just two weeks. Any parents encountered your children can’t see clrealy after wearing the glasses?

DUDU, swissflex is the brand of the glasses. Lighted-weighted and very flexible. Was told it is a good brand for young children.

I spoken to Dr Ling from SNEC and she said that my gal needs to wear probably until 6 years old. Long sightedness may be corrected as well. I am warned she may be myopic if we are not careful...
