LCentral Discussion

Hi laughingcat,
Just curious......so what kind of materials are you looking at? Both Lcentral and TAS use worksheet eh? :?sean wife:
Hi,
In a dilemma between the PFS class at Lcentral and the k2 class at TAS....I think TAS is strong in their creative writing part which I like, but their other materials look quite normal....worksheet kind...
LCentral PFS course uses workbooks which I think content-wise actually looks quite good. Only thing is I am not sure how good they teach the Writing part, which I thought is TAS's forte....
My kids just started their PFS course at LCentral after completing their LiftOff in May, but we went for a trial session at TAS K2 class last week....and the teacher says they can cope with the lesson. Content wise I like the way they introduce compo writing gradually to kids by memorizing short paragraph each week, but for the compre, vocab and grammer part, I thought they look a bit simplier than what is covered in LCentral (of course, I believe it will get harder as they progress...) But we have not signed up yet as they are not able to hold on the vacancies for us till the end of Sep when we finished the term at LCentral...meanwhile I am thinking, should I stay on at LCentral first (since they are already used to the teachers and ways of teaching there), and make a switch only next year when they are in K2 or just do it now....my worry is if I do it next year, not sure if I can get an ideal timing like what they are offering now....
BTW, I read earlier on that you were also considering options on your kid's English class? Have you decided on anything?
Thanks. -
OIC. I am not too sure about Lcentral material. But on hand I have Learning Point and MindStretcher material and I compared it with the TAS material. Actually realised every center has their own strong points. You need to see which area your child is weak in. My boy is alright with his grammar and vocabulary. Because he has been writing alot and initate on his own by using different variation of vocabulary and so i feel that his creative writing level can be brought to a higher level. However if a child is weak in vocabulary and does not read much, i guess it is better to opt for centers which are strong in this area. Personally limited vocabulary will stifle the level of creative writing. That is my takes and opinion only.

Decided to switch my girl from Mindstretcher to LC after seeing no improvement from MS for the past 1yr. Went for assessment at both LC JE & Holland. Understand that LC Holland would be under Teacher Stefan whoβs a full time teacher there. Seems friendly and have a way with children. Have yet to see the JE teacher, as the teacher who assess my girl would be transfer to the BT branch soon, therefore LC JE told me that I would have to select a preferred time and day for my girl to attend a trial lesson, and to see if I am ok with the teacher. Anyone have feedback on teacher Stefan and the teachers at JE. Would appreciate your FB. BTW my girl will be with Launchpad. TIA

LCentral has a Introduce-A-Friend scheme whereby if a friend signs up for any English programme, both the friend and the referrer will get a $30 voucher which can be used to offset the child's programme fees. Just need to mention name and centre of referral.
:rahrah: My son is currently at Bedok branch. Anyone who likes to receive $30 voucher can contact me at

Hi,
I had pm you. -
Hi Rin
Youβre right about teacher Stefan from LC Holland, the kids do love his manner. What I like about him is that he speaks clearly and offers intelligent feedback each time we ask him about the progress of our daughter, and what we should do to help her at home. We have also seen that her confidence and speech has definitely improved since we signed her up under him. Just my 2 cents, hope it helps with your decision making. -
Any feedback on Teacher Rebecca or Teacher Nikki at LC JE branch?
TIA
