It’s very tough for NH this year. GRC and PV only have 16 seats which means those who are unsuccessful in 2B will try again in 2C so phase 2C is highly competitive this year. No much diff between Qifa and Clementi. Between these 2, I choose the one nearest to home.

NH has 16 places - enough for those staying < 1 km in P2B? :scratchhead:

I live within 1 km of Qifa and daughter is SC (and between 1-2 km for Clementi, Pei Tong and Nan Hua), so that’s what I will be going for in 2C. Nan Hua fills up fast due to its reputation among the top 10 primary schools in the country. Clementi and Pei Tong likely draw most of their students from the Clementi area HDBs. Qifa is in West Coast, and draws most of its students from the West Coast area neighborhoods (mostly Chinese semi-d homes) and HDBs (ethnic mix). The private condos around West Coast are more internationally diverse, but most of the kids there are not SC (SC get absolute priority this year). The top 10 students from Qifa the past few years have PSLE in the 250-260+ range – which corresponds to the general range for the top 10 secondary schools in the country.

On the MOE website, they differentiate between \"places taken up\" and \"number of children registered\" for each specific school. Is it correct to presume that the number of children registered refers to those who have actually accepted a place at a given school, whereas \"places taken up\" refers to the number of places offered to students who have applied?

\"Places taken up\" are places already gone in the earlier phases.

\"Number of children registered\" reflects the number of children registering in the current active phase.
If this number is greater than the figure under \"Vacancy for Phase xxx\", then this school will have balloting for this current phase.
The smaller number of \"Vacancy for phase xxx\" and \"Number of children registered\" will eventually become \"Places taken up\" at the start of the next phase.

This year based upon current places remaining, I would seriously doubt that there will be any places left for applicants more than 1 km from Nan Hua, and even those <1 km may wind up balloting. Sadly, I live just about 100m outside the 1 km radius. One block within my condo complex at Monterey Park is actually within 1 km, mine is not.

Hi USA-Sing-1, are you a PV with NH?

Hi, no I am not on PV with NH…I actually applied for it a while back, but was not accepted. I suspect they may have more than enough PV and would not be surprised if some of them have to re-apply during 2C.

Hi! My daughter is due to enrol only next year. But im concern abt the registration process. Thus, its not too early to start a bit of research.

I would like parents here to give me some advice.

My step kids are in Pei Tong but I would prefer Clementi. Tell me, what are the chances of getting into Clementi? Or should I avoid all the hassles and get her a secured spot in Pei Tong instead? In your own preference, which is a better school?

Although Fuhua is not within the area, what do you think of the school?

We’re currently residing at West Coast. My hb was from Ai Tong. Is it worthwhile to travel so far everyday to and from school? It’s as taxing on parents as much as on kids.

Pls give me suggestions and share your views.

Hi – if you are in West Coast then Qifa will likely be the closest school to you, within 1 km. Depending on exactly where you live, Pei Tong and Clementi may or may not. Pei Tong has had no issues with spaces for enrollment for the past few years; Clementi fills up faster. In terms of PSLE scores…not sure about Clementi or Pei Tong but Qifa posts the top 10 student scores on their website. Their scores are consistent with entry into the top 10 secondary schools. Transfer between schools will depend upon openings available…some schools have a waiting list.
