micollh, the teacher gave a list and it has 3 tingxie words to write each time. My kid still can't write proper stroke (sigh, poor motor skills, so difficult to write). Now his chinese character like drawing. :rotflmao:

kat78, good to know that at least your daughter can write strokes. My ds, hates copy writing. Very difficult to enforce.

If I remember correctly, one of the character he has to write this week was \"bu yong\" and ma ma. Oh! and know also learning the hypy a, u, e.

Yesterday the English teacher is telling me whether i want to give my girl more spelling words as the words she give her seem to be easy for her. But i dun wan to stress my girl cozs on top of the school spelling she still got ICR spelling.

              Hi heyhoe
Is it abit too early to learn HYPY? You mean your DS's K1 class is teaching already?
I know MOE doesnt allow kindergartens to teach HYPY as may get them confused with English/phonics.
But many private ones starting to teach in K2 or conduct separate HYPY classes for the kids.

                  Hi iLoveChubby,

I agree with you. I do think it's too early to learn HYPY. In fact, my ds is currently learning phonics. I do worry that he'll get confuse. However, I think they'll just go thru the basic, I doubt my ds can grasp it at this stage. All, I know is that they'll go more thorough in K2.

Castle House, no worries about how soon they started. It's the end result. My ds1 started tingxie and spelling only at K2, but I find he grasp better as he's more matured then and motor skills are much better too. This is when I compare with my ds2 which started at K1 as well.

Sorry, if I'm confusing anyone  . 2007 kiddo is my ds3
