Called the office. Within 1km, no ballot. Yeah!!! :imcool:

Congrats, welcome to the PH family. I can almost touch your happiness - must have been digitally transmitted to me. 😂

Does that mean that <2km has balloting, or only >2km then got?

All >2km must ballot.[/quote]Actually PH knows the no. of PVs and church members who will apply way back in April - May. The only ? is the no. of GRL. PH may be the strictest mission school in Singapore for issuing the letters to the church members. If not, I am sure there will be balloting within 1-2km, or even 1km.

I called pei hwa twice today and the last time at around 3.20pm to check. Was told that there was 30 within 1km. As I am outside 2km, I thought there is no chance already even for ballot, and did not managed to register. I just realized from the post here that is ballot for outside 2km! I wonder if there is any recourse, really felt cheated!

Is it a norm for schools to give such gross mis-information? I wonder if anyone else receive this update from the school when they called. Twice when I called, I was given figures that there will be ballot even within 1km. I thought I can trust the school.
There are quite a few new admin staff. Did you get the name of the staff who answered your calls?

I can sense how disappointed and upset you're with the sch staff. Btw did you manage to register at another sch during phase 2b?

If you have seen my post at around 1 pm, I gave an update that there were 17 who registered within 1 km and guaranteed entry. So what are your plans now? Don’t think there ll be recourse. There was a sch today which I called. They don’t even want to reveal how many applicants in 2B. Even worse rt?

              Hi All,

Just wanted to say a big congrats to all parents who got their child in. My DD is not registering this year, yet reading all the earlier posts i can sense the pressure and stress of primary registration! All the best to all!

Is PH strict with the selection of PV? When should i start applying for my DD who was born in 2008? Can both set of parents apply separately or its still considered 1 PV?

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

I think u probably got the wrong info. Initially when I call the school, they told me that there were 30 applicants. Only when i prompt further, they told me there were around 17applicants under 1km.

Yes that’s exactly what happened when I called them. There was no mention of applicants by distance until I asked. To be fair, the info on the 2 PR applicants was proffered by the staff.

Hi Maverick, PH has cut down on the number of PVs, and is therefore more stringent on selection. Either 1 parent will suffice, with contributions of 40 hours, or if both parents are PVs, 20 hours each. Some schools require PV to register 1-3 years in advance. PH is 1 yr in advance.

The problem is I did ask. Even double confirm and told the staffs in my 2 calls that I want to know the number of applicants within 1km. And I told them I am outside 2km, and was told I wont even get a chance to ballot twice.

                        Jtan000,

In all their eagerness to reduce the no. of children who will ballot in P2b, the admin staff may have discouraged you solely based on your distance of >2km. Learning from last year’s P2b balloting experience, I guess the sch wants to reduce the fierce competition which ended up turning away many unsuccessful & upset parents, especially PVs who have invested much of their time.

If you’re a GRL who can register at other schools nearer to your house (am I right?), the sch will definitely encourage you to do that.

Another course of action you may consider is to put your child on the waiting list & hope for good news.

Nevertheless, I wish you & your child well in his/her pri sch learning journey.
