Cod liver oil good for adults?
-
I gave my son Scotts cod liver oil daily (orange) but he ended up having phlgem. Which is why I thought of Nordic.

I called vita kids at paragon this morn. Too busy to update here.
There is a promotion for vitamins now...25%. Nordic cod liver oil included. Will get the bigger bottle since there is discount :rahrah:
Th last time I wanted to get it, only those with standard chart credit cargig titled 10% and son was not with me, so dare not get it. -
my kids take Moller’s Tran which is cod liver oil from Norway. Out of all the cod liver oil brands I researched, it has the most DHA and EPA, and surprisingly, a lot more vitamin D than the rest of the brands.
my kids rarely get sick; vitamin D helps the immunity. and it doesn’t taste at all like fish. though we only take the lemon flavour; i don’t know much about the original flavour.
price wise, it’s quite steep: 45 per bottle (250ml)
but i always felt that it was money well spent -
We went to vitakids at Forum...apparently the 25% discount is not at the same shopping mall all the time. The discount for paragon applies tomorrow.
The peach flavor for Nordic brand is avail only for small bottle  or else the bigger one would be more worth buying. -
Now then I know there’s salmon oil in capsules. It’s usually in cod liver oil in capsules. I took cod liver oil for a few months but my cholesterol level never drop. Not effective for me.

Hi,
Properly fermented cod liver oil is very nutritious for children as well as adults. It is rich in naturally occurring omega 3, 6, 9s, which is vital for the nervous system and development. It is also rich in vitamin A and D, two vitamins that are essential for out immune system and helps prevent oestoperosis in adults. Many brands of cod liver oil or fish oil are processed with heat such that the natural nutrients are damaged, thus the need to add back synthetic vitamins to make up for the loss.
There is currently only one company in the world that processes cod liver oil through the traditional fermentation way. It not only retains all the natural nutrients, but also enhances them. It's based in the US but you can now buy them in Singapore here:

Although a bottle of fermented cod liver oil seems expensive at first sight, it is actually not so if you consider the nutrients you are getting from it. Learn more here:

You can learn about the differences of fermented cod liver oil versus regular cod liver oil or fish oil here:

Laurenwkids:
There is such a thing as vitamin A overdose..cod liver oil has vitamin A which is supposed to be good. If you take too much, you can experience headaches and dizziness.
Correct.
Not just excessive vitamin A but because our oceans are so polluted, the risk of contamination is greater in cod liver oil.
That's the reason why I take fish oil instead for my daily Omega-3/6 supplement. -
Hi fellow parents. Do any of you feed your children Scott's Emulsion Cod Liver oil by GSK ?
I have noticed that they have recently changed their packaging after so many years. 1 obvious thing to note is that the recommended dosages for children have been changed. Previously, it was Children 1 to 6 years old, 15ml once a day. Children 7 to 12 years old, 15ml twice a day. Now, under the new packaging, it is Children 1 to 3 year old, 5ml once a day. Children 4 to 8 years old, 15ml once a day.
Did you notice the stark diffrence, particularly for those who had been feeding their less than 3 year old 15ml once a day by following the old recommendation ? 15ml vs the current 5ml recommended dosage.
Has GSK been wrongly recommending too high a dosage in the past, and now changed it to a lower dosage ? Would any harms would have been done on the 1 to 3 year old that had been fed 15ml once a day ?? was the vitamin A intake too high for that group & GSK has only now realised it.
Any comments ? :scratchhead: -
My son has been eating Scott’s cod liver oil orange flavor and I can say that his immune system has been strengthened. I’m having a bad bout of cough & phlegm my hubby also but my son is totally fine.
I guess I should get started on cod liver oil too!
