My kid attended the writers toolbox at clementi branch , I agreed with some parents that there are too many bombastic words used in their model compo and they are quite difficult which some kids might not be able to absorb .

I think only some or few kids can remember most of the words:) My DD can remember some of the bombastic words only - meaning she can not remember quite a lot but still I am happy with it.

bombastic words must be intorduce at the right age and right situation. Kids must be taught to use them appropriately. They sometimes just memorise and throw it int their essay for no reason.

Yes yes I agree with you. That is why I always ask my DD to read the whole compo to understand where those bombastic phrases are used. For example, dont cry over a spoilt milk - My DD always used to give me the following answer: Milk is split. Dont cry bla bla bla..... Now she understood the meaning after she read a story given in her MS compo and uses this phrase even in day today life. In my opinion, we should not ask our kids just to memorise. Unfortunately, there are not many choices for English enrichment in Clementi. My friend's DD attends another centre in Clementi which she complains too simple and infact her grade dropped from Band 1 to Band 2. Enrichment centres must balance between too simple or too advanced patterns. We at least I want to see something that is in between standard for my DD.

            Hi All,

I am looking at MS at Bukit Batok branch. Seems like almost all centres in the west are full except bukit batok. Do you all know why? Can any parents advise how are the teachers in bukit batok branch?
My kids are in P3 and P4 this year.

Advise you to go Bishan Mindstretcher branch which is their HQ. Sembawang branch is franchised out. Worksheets are all the same but under different management. You go to Bishan Mindstretcher branch and Sembawang Mindstretcher branch do a comparison and look at the classrooms. Bishan Minstretcher is very big and has toilets in their centre. Customer Service provided at Bishan MS is also better. If the price is the same, why not go for the best branch - HQ.
