Neighbour's son has one day school ends at 1230, but he has CCA till 6 or 7 pm. Cousin's son is hardly home before 4 when he was in Sec 1. Practically no life in secondary school...very much worst. After a long day, homework still must completed before sleeping.

On the contrary, secondary school is FULL of life.. The child gets to meet so many new people, learn so many new things, handle so many new experiences.. How can it be ''no life''?? 🤷

And, not home before 4 does not mean ''no life''.. It simply means that life has extended beyond the 'home', for the child... šŸ˜‰

some of it are really up to the individuals.

some of the kids may arrange to stay back together to complete the project together instead of communication from home on facebook

they learn to work as a team and also how to deal with less effective or less productive team members

they even arrange for sleep over to do projects .....

my DS wanted to take only one core CCA but ended up with added on another 3.5 merit CCAs, plus in the school team for one of the sports .... we all laughed at him .... but he learns to cope and still gets up every morning looking forward to school
It makes a whole world of difference when a child is motivated and is passionate about what he / she is learning / doing in school.

        šŸ˜‰

            My Goodness!!!! :yikes:
Do they really need to learn soooooo much things?
How to be happy like that? No time to relax.
Can fail some ?? Or maybe borderline pass?[/quote]Actually hor, some of the subjects look kinda fun šŸ¦†
I mean, staying in school for such long hours doesn't look so bad if the lessons are fun, right? And also if they are for NOT passing exams - but of course, that's jus blissful thinking ain't it?

Food and nutrition and design and technology, both girls and boys need to take up both subject? Or is it girl take up food and nutrition and boy takes up design and technology?

I know in some schools the boys also do food and nutrition, and good at it!

Sometimes, if not often, mommy's words weigh less than what the school/teacher says, so its certainly a good subject to at least make sure they eat well and learn to take care of their own health!

šŸ˜„ šŸ˜„ yes hope that you can let go in sec Sch. It's for his good... The more we get involved again in his sec Sch the more reliant he gets on us - can we help them all the way to uni? Also, let's pray like all boys, our DS will bloom later probably in sec Sch...so there is so much hope! šŸ˜‰

You don't learn to let go, your kids can't learn to grow..

Janet, it's not that bad lah.

Sometimes it may seem that my kids barely have a life, what with the tons of projects and homework, but overall, it's been a good and positive learning experience.

In fact, one kid going to Esplanade today to watch a play and for the other kid, the teachers are organising a trip for students to the Harry Potter exhibition.

Actually, hor... if can survive PSLE, can definitely survive secondary school life. šŸ˜‰

                        Hi parents,

After surviving this 'amazing race' (ie PSLE), it's time to let go to give him room to grow. Sec 1 should be fun and hope he matures.

When he goes to sec school, his peers' influence will be stronger than my words. Will need to adopt a different approach with him. :frustrated: :nailbite: TEENAGE years.
