      Song22:
      Hi Dagong99

I chanced upon an old thread on \"HCI vs NUSH\", you were at the dilemma of the choice between HCI and NUSH, do you mind to share your selecting process and how did you and your ds finally decided upon NUSH? Thanks!
Back then, we preferred DS1 to go HCI as we do not know if it is too early for him to specialize in Math & Science & NUSHS is still a very 'young' school with not much track records as compared to HCI.

However, DS1 has long 'regarded' NUSHS as his future school, so after much consideration, we allowed him to make his own choice.

However, we are glad that we did that as DS1, being a \"Math & Science' guy, may not have excel in HCI as his weakness is in languages. In NUSHS, he is self-motivated, doing his favourite subjects and reading in advance, something that he may not do if he is 'forced' to do subjects that he does not have the interest. So far, he has no problem with most subjects and has done well for his SA1. Hope he can continue this way.

I'm not sure about his class average but if it's the same as the other class : 4.1 - 4.2, he is above average, esp the 3 Science subjects.

What are the core subjects that the students are doing in NUS high? Do they have non core subjects like philosophy or research education like what the other IP schools are offering? TIA

If I'm not wrong, for Specialisation Years (Yr5 &6), they are to do min 3 Major subjects (1 Math, 2 Sciences - Science 1 + Science 2) + 1 Optional Major (Science 3, Art, Computing Studies, Economics, English Literature, Geography, History or Music) + English & MT (not HMT) + Da Vinci. There are also Enrichment & Elective modules to choose.

There will be lots of mini quizzes, tests, individual & group projects w presentations. So basic skills in word, PowerPoint is essential. All the subjects listed must be taken, only enrichment & elective modules are optional.

Do you mean they will take humanities, music, art at the same time in addition to the usual subjects listed above?
And do you know if music as major subject ( in advanced and specialized years ) is common in NUSH? Are there many people taking it?
                        Thanks!
