Can someone recommend a good chinese enrichment centre in the east for secondary student?

You may want to try Hua Cheng education centre. My son is also P5, he is doing well with Hua Cheng at Bukit timah plaza branch. There are a lot of feedbacks from other mummies in the forum, you may check.

I send my daughter to Confucius Institute NTU. It's located near Buona Vista station. Their teachers are quite effective imo, but their fees are a little on the high side and hard to get a place.

Tien Hsia has end of term review in the form of mini informal concerts and recitals which provide an opportunity for parents to see how their child measure up to other children in terms of stage/self-confidence. Berries doesn't provide this aspect that Tien Hsia offers. Pay the selected centres a visit and do the comparison, not in terms of price but the teacher to students ratio, the type of writing table and chairs provided or if any, cleanliness of centre, accent of the teachers, body language of the teachers and customer service officers and the toilets' distance and cleanliness and if they provide stools for shorter children to step on stools to wash their hands. Do not just hear, parents must do their research and homework before sign up the child with the school.

Not sure if I can help much... My son was in with berries when he was in k1. After we shifted to sengkang, he stopped going for Chinese enrichment altogether because i signed him for extra chinese classes in his preschool. Not too long ago, I realized he seemed to have problems with his hanyu pinyin. After doing some homework, I signed him at yang laoshi. I was initially worried that he may not be used to the more academic way of teaching at Yang. Plus his standard of chinese is really not good at all. Berries was more fun with singing, art & craft etc. Yang is quite different; very academic. I was also concerned he might have trouble catching up. The principal & teacher told me it may be hard for him the first few months, but if he persists, he shouldn't have any problems when he goes p1. I decided to just enroll him. Better than nothing mah...

He just started attending for about a month only, too short a duration for any conclusion. But importantly, he actually enjoys going to classes. the teacher must be doing good job :). But there is no homework, which I think is fine. they have 听写 every week and a set of worksheets to do in class every week, which comprises of hanyu pinyin, counting of strokes, some comprehension & mini essay writing, which I thought is comprehensive.

I'm sharing in my own context, my boy is k2 this year. Perhaps you may want to have a chat with them.
