So anyway, all the transfer candidates have very high expectations and demands. It's beyond my budget - $550+ salary, filipino channel on SCV, mobile phone bills, food allowance... The list goes on!
:yikes: :yikes:
This is shocking, how good are they?!?!?!?
Are there really any employers that offer this???? I'm very curious to know.
Maybe I'm country bumpkin, I can't believe any employer can offer such terms to a stranger. They can claim whatever on their biodata. I would want to personally go to their previous employers house to interview their previous employer is she worth that much?!?!?!? -
Guess wattt?!! she followed wat i did on the table set up nite b4… so perfectly… haiz… wat a luck! she has a placement of $1k for two mths… so if i hv to send her bk to agent (cross finger tt i do not need to) will i b getting a refund? i am entitle 1 free replacement. can i jus send her home country?

Straffan23, my main problem is my husband travels very often so I don’t have much help from him. Plus my toddler has turned very clingy, don’t know how I’ll manage to carry, let alone breastfeed my newborn, numerous times a day without her flying into fits. I’m the one doing everything for her now, like putting her in bed for nap and at night, showering, bringing her to play group, etc. So am worried how I’ll juggle. We tried enrolling her in school but was taken for a ride by the irresponsible administrator. Paid up registration fee in Jan, wanted toddler to start half day program in March or latest June, but was only offered 2 days a week in the end. And at a premium price, due to the ‘special’ arrangement. Total waste of time! But thanks for the encouragement, I’ll do my best! Crossing all fingers and toes…

My ex-maid, who asked for $600 (but we paid $550 as a start), was definitely not worth the salary and perks. But the problem is, these maids really think the world of themselves! Most ask for at least $500 if they've been here 3-4 years. And a common pattern is, they all work for local families when they first arrived, and often have expat employers after. So perhaps that's where the high expectations come in. Of course, fresh maids also command a higher pay now, around $420 minimum, so the transfer ones feel the need to up their salaries too.Divamama:

I think those maids who work for expat, won’t want to work for local family, so when we go to the agency, why are they recommended or short listed for interviews?

My new Fili maid's ( with overseas experience ) salary is $400 with 1 day off a month. When I was looking at biodatas from 2 agencies, those ex-Sin maids' salary was $450.

Agent mentioned that a lot of the maids ask for transfer after they complete their loan, with the intention of upping their salary now that they have \"experience\". :yikes: -

st2, dont you shortlist yourself? i use http://www.netmaid.com.sg.
Some who work for expat will work for local. I had one, she told me the things that the expat did to \"bully\" her or treat her like slave. The expat employer will buy separate food for her (must be cheaper i think), then put her food together with the dog's fridge. She was insulted.
Another maid who initially worked with me and wanted to change as she changed her mind and wanted to work for expat employer. She told me after a few months that she slept later than when she worked for me. She slept after 11pm every day, as there were lots of party and entertainment.
The only attractive thing about expat employer is that, they gave all Sundays and all public holidays off. -
If you have not read my post in the "Burmese Maid" - wrong place to post too. Here is to share:
2nd last maid - with me for 3.5 yrs, pay $480, all Sundays off. She was good but once she mentioned that she would like to go to Canada at the end of contract, she bcame diff. Start arguing w me, not doing much work, kept hiding in her room.
last maid - 47 yrs old, lasted 7 wks, i was sick for 3 wks (exhausted fr having to help her complete her tasks after i return home from work), 6 yrs exp (2yr w Chinese, 1.3yr British, 1.5yr w British, went back 3 yrs). Serve expired milk twice, plates are stacked everywhere in the cupboard to her convenience, you find spoons in any drawers, use the broom to sweep coffee table, my whole house the dirtiest ever (can find BALLS of dust flying around at home), toilet seat clean top but not bottom, hand towels washed with floor cloth, etc.
Initially asked for $550, all Sundays and all PH off. I nego for $500 but can give all Sun and PH off. I gave her back to agent and told her, she’s not worth any cents, i wont even hire her for $100! -
Hi Lynn2010
What I meant was the agency should keep the expat employer experience maids on a list for expats to interview. Their terms are so high, I doubt local employer would go for them, just wasting time. -

Quite true, my maid also thought that she can increase her pay aft finish her loan. But she doesn't know that she is under old contract, so can't increase, ie. same pay. Plus she will have to pay 2 more months of loan. :yikes:

Whether a maid is good or not, wait until her loan is finished, then may see her \"true\" colours. Now i get to see her colours, but mostly black.
