Other than Temasek making money by selling our power plants, is this supposed to create competition and make utilities cheaper? Or is it going to be an oligopoly situation where consumers are still at the loosing end? -

I am more concerned with security.. foreigner owning our power plants.. doesn't feel very safe to me..

That's true. But being privatized also means they are free to sell it off, isn't it?

That's why I asked.. If really in need of cash.. why not touch the reserve but instead sell critical assets... unless.. the reserve.................................................. :censored: ?

In term of economic trend, our gahmen actually don’t have a thinking of their own. If other countries are liberalising their telcos, then Singapore will also do so. If other countries are liberalising power companies, then they will follow suit.
If bankers are paying themselves obscenic, unjustifiable compensation, our gahmen don’t think that it is immoral and they will follow suit by pegging their pay to these bankers.
But if other countries are making progress in human rights, they start scatching their head and try to portray it as dirty words. -

Limlim, T-Czar, I dont think we will know in our lifetime. After 56 years, probably take another 28 years to re-calculate and update.... so unless Marty McFly and Doc Brown take us forward..... doubt we will ever know ( maybe I dont even wanna know :siam: ) -
Strparent, I know la. But the way tuition_czar replied really tickled me. To me, tuition_czar is the very serious, non-nonsense type.

How is that a fact? Let us see some real hard numbers and evidence before we can start to believe you.[/quote]I actually don't care to convince you. But I have in and around the area of healthcare and healthcare finance to observe the suicidal behaviours of many Singaporeans around the use of their Medisave monies, which is basically to take every single opportunity to squeeze every cent possible, without regard to saving for the future. To the extent that they will arm-twist their doctors to collude with them on this matter. Do your homework, go and speak to any 5 specialist doctors, you will get your answer. Disbelieve me? No skin off my back.
And that, is the dumbest thing to do, since CPF pays 2.5% interest or more. You have no experience in this matter, and you are wrong. There is already plenty of abuse of present schemes. There are people who feel that that since medisave is 'their money', that they will squander it as quickly as possible. This, is FACT.3Boys:

If you need to choose between CPF or Cash, of coz pple will use CPF. But, between to spend or not to spend, I believe most pple wouldn't want to see doctor and take medicine unless they are really sick..
