As someone who is not remotely keen on those branded school like hpp, nyps etc… I detest the system of giving priority to alumni staying far far away… and then during morning peak hour or evening peak hours, these pple will contribute to the traffic jam and cause unbearable traffic speeds and affect every road users (of affected roads).

I believe if 95% of the students stay within 1~2km… the traffic condition may not be so bad.

Ask the taxi uncles… they will tell you, some of the jams is relate to the popular primary schools (or even not so atas ones…).

ok… I don’t drive… but just speaking up for those who suffered from road jams caused by nearby primary schools…

And obviously, it is not a case of sour grapes…[/quote]

Er, actually, I know of parents who drive their DC to school, even though they stay a 5 min walk away. And do so everyday, not only when it rains. Their rationals differ … Some say it’s to give DC that precious 5 min more of sleep … LOL

Ya lor! One parents said that DC eats in the car, so the one minute drive to school, and 4 min waiting the the queue of cars turning into school makes the difference between having breakfast and not having breakfast. I didn’t ask why DC cannot eat as they walk to school. Perhaps it causes indigestion!

What happen if they do the same for 6 years! Beside indigestion what?

I suspect it is very small minority..

How many of you here would waste 4mins' waiting for 1min's journey? plus petrol.. etc..

it will still be limited to the few popular schools only, even if that comes true.
                  wanna bet ?

When the time comes, what is alumni? Also who knows you got to pay $1000 or more for the alumni fee? Payment no problem but NO balloting. This comes back square one right?

There was a top school that used to produce top students. Then it started going downhill in the 1990s until the alumni (which included cabinet members) got together and told the management that this is simply unacceptable. Now it has climbed back up to the top again. I came from that school. I am sure the alumni know which school I am talking about.

Always remember that the alumni are the ones who produced the results that made the school popular in the first place.

This does not benefit me because it is a boy's school and I only have a daughter. :rotflmao:
