      Hi Lovinglife

We continue with PRP cos we didnt want my girl to lose touch with the blending. My girl has since promoted from ICR. She is now with Comprehension & Creative Writing. She is not able to join the P1 syllabus yet as she is in K2 this yr. My boy is currently with PRP though.

          Hi Steffi88,

Thanks for sharing. My intention is same as yours. As to continue with his current PRP class. I noticed my son is as of same age as your boy too. Dec baby 🙂 May I check how does the ICR level structured? My understanding is book 1 to 5 will take about 6 months, book 6 another 6 months? Total 1 year? All students got to be in the same pace and go for next book together?

How nice! Yesteday I dropped by the centre again and was told they have 7 students now (it was full initially and my DS was on wait list. Some parents back off later) and will wait for 1 last student to fill up the seat. Really must make it to the max. I saw some other ICR class also full, ie 8 students.

Yes, the entire ICR course takes 1 year to complete. Think you have to reach Book 6 before you can see the results. Was quite impressed actually. My girl can read books by herself and tries to blend new words that she sees off advertisement etc.

My boy is also a Dec baby. But think he is one year younger than your boy?

                My DS is Dec07 baby, a 4.5yo K1 boy 🙂

                      Hi Kat78

Not sure if the system works differently at diff branch. For us, kids can join the P1 syllabus only when they are in P1. If you finish the ICR course earlier, you will have to proceed to the Comprehension and Creative Writing course first. Personally i find the CCW course quite effective and interesting. They will go through stories, proceed with comprehension questions which can either be in open/ended or MCQ format. Also, the teacher will ask them to construct sentences using selected words every week. I was pleasantly surprised when the teacher actually taught them how to search for words using the dictionary.

Guess it helps also that the teacher’s lessons are lively and full of ‘animated’ actions. My girl didnt really find the lessons stressful. Wldnt want to put her off at such a young age.

The system shouldbe working the same.
