[Choa Chu Kang] Primary Schools

Thanks all for you advice, and I don't want to have 2 heart attacks then end up in Kranji or Teck Whye :(, and most prob CCKPS will be full in Phase 2C.
CCKPS now has 120 applicants vs 125 vacancy, so hopefully SC do not need to ballot. -

Hi does anyone know if P1 pupils need to go through some sort of entry tests before the school allocating them to their classes? Is it true that if kids get a place in the \"best class\" at the level then it doesn't really matter which school they go to, whether it is SV or Kranji.
Hi Yiuong,
My sis told me they seems to draw lots for class allocation for P1, after which CCKPS will allocate based on their yearly results. -

Hi Jappooh,Hi springrain,

Wanted to register online today but thought I will see how the registration goes today then finalise my decision. Was discussing with my husband just now and I think it could be due to the new condo...
We are within 1km from SV and CCK.
CCKPS seems to be gaining popularity in CCK.
I am rather surprised even the hot schools like De La Salle, upcoming ones like Yew Tee & Unity are still not as hot as South View. -
Hi,
I am registering my son for P1 this year. Can I have some feedback for De La Salle and CCKPS, as i am still thinking which to choose. -

[/quote]Guess it's the strategy of most parents who are within 1km of both SV, CCK & TW.
With the stiff competition in SV, many are driven to register at CCK....I'm not surprise if CCK goes into ballot at P2c within 1 km this year.
Cos most parents wld want to avoid gg into TWPS. Faced the same dilemma 2 yrs back.
Gd luck to parents within this area (we may be neighbours!)

Hi Jappooh,
Thanks for the updates. Guesss the nos. will continue to climb in the next 2 days. Like stock mkt.
i am getting worried. Hope that i dun have to ballot. i will have heart attack.
YTPS has 88 vacancies and day 1 already have 88 applications. We still going ahead to register my daughter. Going down to the school this afternoon to register and also to find out the SC/ PR ratio. I understand that some other schools release this info. Do not know if YTPS provide such info tho'.

DLS has history of balloting within 1km in the past years. If you are staying outside 1km, not advisable to waste your chance. From MOE's website update, yesterday, there were 100 applicants vying for 84 places. No breakdown of SC vs PR and distance tho'. You may like to call the school to check out. -
Hi Snowball32,
Thanks for your advice.
Is anyone’s kid studying at CCKPS, how is the school? Care to share -

My son is in CCKPS P4 this year. The Science notes are good & comprehensive, comparable to RGPS standard because the HOD "copied" or somehow has knowledge of RGPS materials (PS. my girl was in RGPS). Another commendable thing is the Chinese Oral teachings are P6 PSLE standard. Besides describing what the picture illustrates, the teacher will teach you to say why it is wrong and if you were the person what you would do. When my girl was in RGPS, sch teacher never teach, she learnt from Tien Hsia.
For Maths, the teacher makes an effort to teach difficult problem sums. No such effort can be seen in RGPS.
However, when give back results, CCKPS does not release oral, listening & compo marks. You have to guess from the total marks in report book. I have spoken about this issue with Vice Principal twice but she won’t budge.
The sch has fair share of not so good teachers too.
